I am planning on ordering a mechanical thumb and protective bottom plate from BXpanded this week. The thumb will be very helpful for bucking firewood logs, in the middle of getting next year's firewood cut, split and stacked. I've read a lot of threads that strongly encourage the use of a protective plate. Thanks!
