Dumb question, I am pretty sure the tire is no good, but is there anyway to repair this tire? That is the tube coming through. Its been -30 up here, this is my bale loader tractor and I think it split due to a combination of cold and weight.

Yes it can be repaired It will require a boot on the inside.

I tried the boot once on a tire not that bad. It did not hold up. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did. I wasted a whole day on getting it fixed. It went for several days, then failed again. I got another tire which was good. That fixed the problem. See if you can find a good used tire. it looks to be a support tire, and not a drive tire.

Thanks, yes this is a front steer tire, not a drive tire on a CASE IH 1494

I cut a 4" side wall gash on rear tire on back hoe. Tire shop put about a 12" boot in it . It has to be ground and a special vulcanizing adhesive. Cost about 75 bucks 3 yrs ago.

Same price in Alberta for those tires from Uncle Wieners, but I would steer clear from those ones...all from China, I would rather spend $250 a tire for a quality brand.

Just curious what tires were worth out your way....

If that ad's real, then better than I've seen here. Around here, kiiji tractor tires move fast. I wouldn't try fixing it either.

Yeah, I'd consider that tire done. The thing is, you can throw about any thing on tractors and farm machinery. Been known to take 7.50x16 tires off a 3/4 ton pickup and put them on hay wagons, steer tires on tractors and combine and so forth. We have what we call a coop around here and they sell and fix ag tires. Also so we have tire shops that sell and fix ag tires. If they don't have what you need, they can usually order it and hAve it in stock in a dah or two. I put brand new ag tread tires on the front of my 4 wheel drive massey ferguson last summer. They cost me about 100 dollars a piece. That includes mounting. Good luck with fixing/replacing your tire.

I understand that sentiment..... unfortunately, a lot of tire sectors are not that straight-forward anymore.....

I know ST trailer tires better than Ag.... went with Greenball (Taiwan) for my trailer, and have been very happy with them. Carlisle and Goodyear ST tires were junk, at the time I was last buying ST tires.

I've bought one tractor import front tire from a big Ag dealer about an hour West of me, as I couldn't justify a name brand $. Keep in mind that for what we now consider small tractor tires here, there is a huge market in Asia, and it is very competitive. That said, there are junk tires in all markets..... caveat emptor.....

If you can swing a name brand, go for it. If not, a reputable Ag dealer should be able to recommend an alternative.....l find the tire market is dynamic, what is a top brand at one time is not necessarily so even 5 years later.....

Bought brand new 2012 Kubota M7040 and asked for it to come with industrial tires which were provided by Kubota Canada.

MITAS made from some "behind the iron curtain," country.

No info on sidewall about max pressure to set bead, ....

Next I ordered a very expensive set of TRYGG studded chains which are designed to be installed with no fitting required.
Chains came and were too long.

TRYGG asked me to measure the diameter of the new tires installed on my new tractor.
Trygg provided the tire dimension data used world wide by the Tire and Rim Association.

My new tires were 3" smaller in diameter than the industry standard which meant my chains were about 10" too long.

Kubota Canada would not even talk to me about this and the dealer was powerless.

TRYGG is a great company and had me ship the chains to their Canadian distributor/factory and they were rebuilt to fit my undersized tires. Free.

Now the rear tires are cracking like they had been in the sun for 20+ years.

I never thought a company like Kubota would put junk tires on a new machine but clearly they did.

Before I bought my new tractor, I had a Nuffield 465 for about 30 years. The name brand tires I bought after getting this well used tractor stood up for all of the 30 years.

You can buy low priced tires and get what you paid for. Short life. Don't leave the tractor in the sun but indoors.

Even on a new tractor be very wary about what you are getting on your new tractor.

I've had exceptional good luck with Firestone tractor tires. Bought my first tractor - brand new in 1982. Traded it for current tractor in 2009 and tires were still in excellent shape - no cracking or weather checking anywhere and with 82% of tread still remaining - that's 27 years. Current tractor was purchased brand new in 2009 and, of course, tires look brand new.

Otherwise its JMHO that if you can keep the tires out of the sun, except when the tractor is in use, they stand a good chance of lasting a long time.

I looked at that pic the OP posted and wondered if that isn't a slice from running the equipment to close to something sharp or running over something sharp???

This just might beat all, don't know. I'm kind of a "tight wad". Needed some tires for the back of my allis Chalmers 185. They were pricey. Had some old John Deere 55 combine laying around for parts. It looked promising, the measurements looked good, could they??? Yes, you got it, John Deere 55 combine tires bolted right on to my allis Chalmers 185. I junked out 4 of those old combines and still got 2. I got all kinds of tires. Current set is probably 40 to 45 years old. Here's some pics.20170804_200545.jpg20170804_200526.jpg20170804_200449.jpg20170804_200430.jpg

Check it out!
Mitas Company. Mitas introduction. Mitas is a Czech-based manufacturer of off-road tyres (agricultural, industrial, motorcycle). The history of Mitas dates to the 1930s, when tyre production started in Prague, then the capital of Czechoslovakia, and in the Moravian city of Zlin.

Nope, not a slice, there are other smaller cracks running in the same direction.

Maybe it can be patched, but I've never had any luck patching a tire when the problem is on the sidewall. I gused it is worth a try.
