I've had some shady looking people show up. I usually like to get a name and phone number from them as a minimum, so I know where to ship the body.

My experience has been that the type of item makes all the difference. When selling or buying farm related items, I have met some very nice people through craigslist. I always list my phone number if I'm selling hay or cattle. These kinds of sales almost never lead to nonsense. I have never even had anyone ask me to take less for hay.
On the other hand, list an older vehicle or something else that will draw a more sketchy clitentele, and let the BS begin.

Yeah, the dishwasher I got off Craigslist a few years ago was a good deal but wicked expensive to run; getting the dishwasher loaded every night costs me 2 bottles of wine!

Sounds like you guys should have skipped all the trouble and expense and washed them yourself by hand.

I try to help out and wash the dishes and laundry. But then I get yelled at because I put the dishes in the wrong spot, or I loaded the dishwasher wrong, or I folded the laundry wrong, or I forgot to toss in the dryer sheet. I give up.
