Very common for sellers to not meet you at their house.

I wondered if the house was his, as in he was selling some wheels that were sitting by the garage, he drove up to meet me, never went in the house, the garage was not locked. He left when I did, leaving the garage open.

I told one of the scammers through text about our skidsteer it didn't belong to me, it belonged to my neighbor and he didn't know I was selling it and I was on crack and needed a fix. He said okay and ask me to send him my info. I just laughed.

It's sad, but I think some people don't understand CL email. I've had better luck putting a phone number in the ad.

I use TextFree, but there are others like it. It gives you another local number for text/voice over the internet. It's more convenient for buyers, and I don't put my cell phone number on CL.

I put an Ad in looking for a John Deere Electric Gator Battery charger, Dead or Alive.

Some Guy E-Mailed me, clearly upset why anyone would want a Dead battery charger.

Or people beat you down in price on the phone and that's the last you hear of them.

In general. I have never met anything but the nicest people, meeting them in person.

I've got a Stihl chainsaw for sale on CL right now. It's had maybe 10 tanks of gas run through it and is good as new, so I'm only knocking off a hundred bux from what I paid the dealer. Sez right in the ad "If this ad is still up, the chainsaw is still for sale". It also says the price, with no OBO or "offered at".

Both replies I've gotten both started with "is it still for sale", and both wanted to try to talk the price down via email. Sent one guy the link to a CL ad for the same saw, beat to He!! but close to the price he wanted to pay. For some reason he never responded. :laughing:

In my experience, the people that try to talk you down in price before they even see it, never even show up. It seems that they just can't help themselves.
