It does sound like the problem that I had but since mine was such a unique situation I thought it best to let him try the most common corrections before venturing further. Such as running with fuel cap off, changing o-ring in filter bowl, checking all fuel lines for very small leaks, changing copper washers on banjo fittings, etc.

That said, I have had no problems with mine since I made the rig to let out air. I still don't know what caused the problem and try not to even think of it anymore. The only thing it does different now is it will quit running when it gets down to about 1/2 gallon of fuel in the tank. I can pour more diesel in it and it starts right up without even bleeding. Since it otherwise runs perfect, I don't consider this a problem.
