John,

Anybody know why the pump would stop running?

Thanks,
Eddie

The wildlife came by and shut it off. Even though most are noctornal(sp?)...they still like the peice and quiet. That's why they moved to the country. hehe. :)

Eddie could something have plugged up the pipe causing the engine to overheat for a bit? Only other thing I could think of is some kinda short to the sparkplug.

Hey Eddie, it seems like you said your pump has a low oil warning something. Any chance the low oil function shuts off the engine? If so, maybe a loose wire or sensor.

My thought was low oil sensor also. Make sure pump is level and full of oil. Other than that the electronic ignition maybe going bad...I know it's new but that doesn't mean it's good.

is the fuel tank vented?

On the cars from about 74 up. I'm not sure when the trucks got the change but most were vented through a hose to the carbon canister under hood and not through gas cap on tank?

might be pulling vaccume on tank after a peroid of time?

I vote for low oil sensor making intermittent contact. Have seen emergency generators with those wired around just so they don't shut down the gen set. (Not the preferred solution!)

Other cause could be overheating. Has it be during times of still air?

I thought about the low oil warning and dismissed it. I checked the oil level and I have a little more than I should. I didn't think about the sensor or wiring being bad. If it stops again or becoems a problem, I'll try to bypass it and see if that's it.

The fuel tank was vented, but I disconnected all those lines. The cap had a rubber o-ring type seal on it that I removed so it would act as the vent. With it in an upright position, I sort of guessed that I wouldn't get any water in it if it rains.

It might not be enough of a vent but the pump barely uses any fuel and the fuel flow is gravity fed. There isn't any preasure on it and I find it hard to believe that's the problem.

It's been running non stop since I started it sunday afternoon.
