I need to make more storage in my pole barn. I am thinking about adding a loft and some shelving that i can store some smaller implements under like the the ones for my CUT. Anyone have some ideas or pictures of ideas that you may have added to your pole barns.

I don't have any pictures but I bought "gorilla rack" shelving from menards and connected them together along a 40' wall. It is amazing how much "stuff" they will hold. It helped clean up my garage quite well.

I built a 4' wide loft about 4' high across the back of my barn (about 24' long). My walls are 10' high. On one side I added an extra shelf where I store the implements for my Garden tractor (snow blower, roto-tiller, mower deck, dozer blade) I use the FEL to lift them up there. The rest of the loft I put up some commercial shelving for chemicals, extra seed/fertilizer, etc. Underneath the I store the kids' toys, patio furniture, etc.

I used treated 4x4's for the legs and framed with 2x4's and 3/4" OSB for the floor. It works well for me, but I'd like to see some other options also.

I am going to try to post some pics. What I did is build a bridge crane that spans my 40" shop and rolls the 50' length. I have a 14'x18' workshop in one corner that is decked for storage. I have a 1-ton chain hoist that I use for lifting. It makes tough jobs easy.

Deere -

In the inside portion of my pole barn, I bolted 2x6s along the inside of the poles, and then used rafter hangers on those to put up 2x6 rafters on 16" centers. Then I floored it with plywood. It gave me a 12 x 12 loft inside a 12 x 24 covered barn and is sturdy as I need it -although I don't have a LOT of weight up there, it holds boxes of stuff, christmas decorations, coolers, camping boxes etc. with no problems. As a bonus, I put 4 foot plywood sections as a ceiling on the bottom of the 2x6x on either side to make cubby holes between the rafters, and use it to store my scrap wood and PVC scraps.

I really appreciate all the ideas. I just did't build it big enough and I have bought more things since I built it. I guess you can never build them big enough. To make matters worse we need to tear down an old shed that is beyond repair and it is full of stuff.
