There's this unused kayak that's been sitting outside for a while (several years+). And, we have plenty of black widows around. I'd really rather not climb into a kayak with black widows, a wasp nest or anything similar. What's a good way to eradicate critters like this without me having to sit in a puddle of poison when I go to use the kayak?

Flood it with water a few times.

I thought about that, but figured there'd probably be air pockets. Maybe I could stand it on end somehow, flood it, flip it and flood it again.

Let your MIL borrow it.

If you put it on a soft, flat surface, and fill it with hose water at home, you'd probably get most of the air pockets out depending on the shape of the kayak. Perhaps rolling it around some. Let it sit for a while in case the critters can survive submersion for a while.

Any way to fumigate it for critters first with out damaging the Kayak and then flush it out?

You could probably put a bug bomb in it and seal the cockpit? Leave it for a week or so.

I just hose mine out but I haven't worried about BW spiders.

Get it cleaned out, then buy/make a cockpit cover to keep them out.
