I have a 7 year old Cub Cadet XT2 Enduro Tractor Lawn with ush button starting issues. It has gradually gotten worse over the last year. Each time I have to work the brake/clutch pedal numerous times to get it to connect and start. I'm hoping it isn't the control board module that's bad. I'm thinking it might be the brake switch. Has anyone else had a problem like this with a push button start Cub Cadet ?

Consider also it may be the push button itself. That would certainly be cheaper than a control board or module.

The thing to do here is inspect closely the connections, especially pin connectors. Several I have come across several that the connectors themselves were not secure and pins that weren't locked when assembled. This includes body to engine, throttle body, at your safety switches and behind the modular switch. Oh joy. Also have a good look at the frame end of the negative battery cable and the connections on the solenoid. Brake switches are pretty easy to check. I've had a few of those near the starter solenoids become intermittent and suddenly die. So you'll need to know if your trigger wire has voltage at the solenoid. Beyond that, you likely get to buy a switch, the non Bluetooth version is quite a bit less as an FYI.

Can you give us more information on the tractor and what engine you have in it.

The Cub Cadet XT 2 Enduro Series is a 2017 model with push button start. Has a Kohler 26 HP 7000 series engine.

One thing I forgot to mention is when I Look at the control board screen After pushing the button to start , the hrs. appear first and then the letters "br" come up. That's why I'm thinking it might have something to do with the brake switch.

Do you have the owners manual and if so, does it have a wiring diagram ?

My owners manual that came with Cub purchase is very limited ( cheap ).It doesn't cover most internal stuff including wiring. I dont, have much to go on.

Here is a link to a list of wiring diagrams for XT2 machines. You have not given us enough information to determine which XT2 diagram is for your machine.

Thanks . I'll check out the wiring diagram. I've narrowed it down some , I'm just hoping it's not the control module. It still starts if I compress the brake pedal a dozen times or more . It clicks like it wants to start then it might turn over once. If I keep working the brake it eventually connects and turns over and starts. There's something in the connections I believe.
