In the middle of snowthrowing my driveway for the 2nd time my cub suddenly stopped working.

It turns over fine, the oil level is fine, seemingly plenty of juice. It is almost as if a kill switch is turned on that I dont have.

I checked my seat but nothing seems in the way to keep it going, not to mention it turns over just fine.

And yes it is full of gas.

I am not an expert and could use some advice due to the mounting snow.

I checked the spark plugs as well

Gas line? fuses?

I have no idea

Well it takes 3 things to make it go, fuel, spark (at the correct time) and air.
If you checked the spark at the spark plugs, and it is a nice blue, then that is probably ok. While you were checking the plugs, did you notice if they were wet from fuel, or a brown dry appearance? Any strange noise just before dying?
Air filter by any chance get wet? Fuel freezing up? Cold weather diagonises aren't my best...

Frozen carb? Its possible for the fine snow dust from a blower to get caked on the carb/intake area. If you have spark, than that or a frozen gas line would be my bet. It wouldnt hurt to put some gas line antifreeze in the tank. Do you have anyware to put it so it can thaw out (ie heated garage)? That would help narrow down the prob/

Hello and thanks for the info, the storm is now subsided and I need to find a way to get the tractor into the garage. I do store the tractor in a heated garage foresaking my car.

Thanks

You said it turns over fine, so I assume you have a good battery?

Hello,

I put dry gas in the tank, thinking it was water, but no luck. The battery is fine I have full lights and accs, We all know what the sound of a cut off engine is when you accidently get off of your seat, it is just like that, 1-2 seconds after the engine fires up and runs. I fires up and runs just like it always has except it gets killed. no sputtering or misfires just like a kill switch.

I am starting to think a bad or shorted fuse I am going there next. All advice is welcome.

Thanks

Dupa

Sounds like it might be a gunked up jet or bad float in the carb, or a plugged fuel line/filter/tank vent. If it runs fine for a longer period after sitting over night, then dies again, then it's not in the carb, but before it. If it still acts the same way, it is likely not before the carb, if it is a fuel issue at all.

Almost sounds like a safety kicking in.

If it was a safety, first suspect would be oil level/pressure. Second would be temperature.

PTO safety switch, seat safety switch, Check for spark at plugs; if you have spark; safety switches are ok. If spark; fuel problem; could be fuse for fuel pump or if you have power to fuel pump; bad fuel pump. You can remove fuel line and see if you have flow at carb while cranking engine.

When you say it runs a couple of seconds, does that represent the time it takes for you to release the brake pedal? If it kills after you release your brake, then you may have a seat switch problem. If not that, then you'll need to trace it.
