I will throw my 2 cents in. I think you have it in the right place with the fuel system.

First off as you know do assume anything [filter, pump' etc].

My brother had a problem with his fuel pump [mechanical] Do you have a mechanical fuel pump???????
A mechanical fuel pump will have i fuel hose going in and 2 coming out. If inside this unit you have a pin hole the system it will not work properly. This unit was worn out on my brothers.
My brother did have a piece of ice in his carb, you really should take your carb apart or have someone do it and clean it out.

Not a likely problem but if you have a piece of hose that has worn down on the inside it will release small bits of rubber which can clog you carb. Like i say not a likely problem.

When you get it going throw some gas line antifreeze in the tank it won't hurt. BUT will most likely not solve your problem.

Good Luck.

I just remembered a comment from the Cub service guys, the 5252's were outfitted with fuel lines that had a tendency to break down and plug filters, cause problems in carbs, in my case, a filter change corrected the problem.

Hi Everyone, have been very busy with the snow and work and all.....

Have done some more work to try to get the cc 5252E back but not quite there yet. I thought for sure it was a bad fuel pump but was told to remove the fuel line from the back of the carb and to turn the key to see if the gas was flowing properly to diagnose. It pissed like a race horse....... (back to the Carb).....

I took the Carb off and had a friend ( much more mechanically incline than I clean out the jets or links...... whatever it is and he said he did what he could but the carb was....... in his words "extremely clean". I put it back together and tryed it. Same result runs rough with the choke pulled out but when I put it back it dies.

I think I have to take the carb to a dealer....... who I dont trust... and see what I can do.

Has anyone had a dealer try this crap on you????? I purchased an OEM cub cab for my tractor and he replaced it with an aftermarket one and said it was better than the origanal.... I have no problem with the assesment but I checked up on the website and got a quote for $800 less than I was quoted the cab by the OE. That is not counting if he recieved a break on being a distributor. Usuall 15-20%.

Anyways too many snow storms to count and thank god for my old JD Lx176 with 38" snowthrower single stage.

I cant thank it enough. 12 years for me and still ticking...... i was trying to retire it but thanks to CC I cant quite yet.
