Von,

Any chance you would be willing to supply some additional pictures of the attachment points where and how the cab is fixed to the tractor ?

I'm intending to build one over winter and am looking for hints ....
I'll take some photos of the mounting points the next time I have it out, might be a few days.

MarkV, I've been fine, just been hanging out at the Unimog and Porsche forums too much! I can't believe how big this forum got! I can remember way back in the old days that you just about knew everyone who posted on here! Now it seems I don't know anyone here anymore. I guess a lot of guys have come and gone just like me.

Great thanks - no hurry ..... be awhile before I do any with it anyways (probaly not until after the New Year)

BTW - how hard was it to install the cab - take much time ?

I was gone for 3 or 4 years myself ..... went back to work ..... but I'm back now .... :D

Nice find! I am so jealous!:laughing: But cabs for my yanmar are non-existant and would be to hard to make4 one due to the location of everything. Enjoy the heat this winter, you deserve it.

Since I got the cab used, and it was all put together already, it was a snap to put on. My son and I did it with a engine hoist in about 45min. Had to take the ROPS off first and then just lower it in place. Just had to drill a few holes in a few key places to mount it to the tractor. I think I could pull it off in about 1/2 hour now that I have done it once. I would use my gantry crane to pick it straight up. Would not even need to remove the ROPS. But the gantry was holding up a Unimog cab at the time, so could not use it to put the cab on.

Great find Von! Glad you posted and checked in here at TBN. Since you became a mogger you presence here tapered off. Don't be a stranger. Always enjoyed reading about your Unimog builds.

Love those Unimogs. My friend's family has a restored one. After my friend and I had some fun with our new (used) tractor at my house, we were in such a gearhead mode that we had to go back over to his house and drive the Unimog around the pasture and through the pasture tank. Nothing can stop the Unimog!!

Well I got all my parts to do my alternator swap and heater install. As well as put in the block heater. I read the PDF on Kubotabooks.com on how to install the alt. upgrade kit, and just ordered the parts I thought I would need, as the kit is now listed at $385 and more at some sites. So I got an ant. on line for $75 and ordered a factory wiring harness, relay, fuse, belt and mounting bracket. Those parts came to $98. The wiring harness came with the fuse, so I didn't need it. There are a few steps that I didn't need to do that were in the write up. I didn't need to remove the muffler, plenty of room to work while it is in there. And I didn't take off the steering wheel, again no need to. Took about an hour to install and everything works great. I then tackled the cab heater and block heater. The block heater is a no brainer, just unscrew the plug and screw in the block heater. Just used some tape sealer in the threads and used a socket to tighten it up. The Heater was more of a project. Since I got the cab used, I didn't get the heater hook ups at the motor, as they left them on the tractor the cab came from, and just blocked them off. The top port is just a 3/8" NPT thread into the thermostat housing, so a 3' pipe nipple worked there. The bottom hose goes into the bottom radiator hose. So I got a 1' copper "T" with 1/2" coming out. and soldered a 90 onto it for the hose to hook up to. I had to cut the bottom hose in the middle and test fit before soldering up to get the angle right. I think it is better than what I would have been supplied with from Curtis. Boy does that little heater really throw out the BTU's! It was in the 50's yesterday and the heat would have cooked you if on high! It will really be nice this winter when the wind is wiping and the temps are around 0!

Von it sounds like you will have to park the tractor down by your ice rink this winter as a warming shed. It sure is going to make life better this winter when blowing snow.
