custom carry all

With no extra front weight, about 400-500 lbs will probably pick the front end up (or at least make it very light), assuming the hill is pretty steep. I can say from personal experience that is true on a 21hp JD 750 anyway. One time I tried to drive up a rather steep hill with the 483lb 4ft bushhog raised up. The front end started coming off the ground, learned very quickly to never do that again!

Been following info bout this---
So can anyone tell me how much weight will my Kubota B 2320 will carry up hill with the front wheels still working

Depends completely on how far back from the rear axle the centroid of the weight is. And the angle of the hill. And the traction available at the front wheels. In other words, there is no way to answer your question as stated.

I started with the same carry all as a base on my 28 hp Yanmar F24. I patterned mine after this one. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/107937-multipurpose-lifter.html#post1227820

I made mine about 4 feet wide, just a little narrower than my tractor. If I had to do it again I would make it wider.

Even with 140 pounds on the front bumper I can easily lift the front wheels off the ground with a half load of rocks or a full load of wet compost. Sometimes I back up the hill when I have a full load.

A few changes I made:
- I don't have wheels on mine. I drop mine on a pallet which makes it sort of easy to move an inch or 2.
- the channels on the back are tall enough for 2 2x10s so the back goes about 2/3s of the way up
- I added another vertical channel just behind the seat and put a 2x10 there. That forms a box in the box so I can put stuff on the seat without worring about it falling off. That also leaves room for loose stuff under the seat.
- I have 2 stakes so I can put a number of medium sized logs across it
- I used to use about 200 small square bales a year for my horses, not enough to buy a hay wagon and the bed of my pickup is way too high to easily load. I made an 8 ft wide base and front to carry hay. My wife would creep along in 1st gear with the carryall just off the ground and I would stack the bales 5 wide and 3 high. Any more than that and the front would get too light to steer.

Mine is about 4 years old and is dirty and goughed from constant use. Since I don't have a FEL it is an indespensible tool.

Thanks for the 'some ideas' reply wrooster----I had a peek---like that small box addition---As JC-jetro said--" could be used for flowers"

I have started mine with just some stuff I had on hand---Up here it's use what ya got---Town is 35 min. away. ( If ya go one allways needs other stuff--groc., prescptions etc. etc..)
So this is just a start till I get to town ----Just a test to see how it works.
But I will need some low side boards---15 " or so & a tail gate too---For haulin firewood & gravel :D

I have the same problem. Wind up with lumps on my head every time I have to remove/replace the three-point gear for the backhoe....

By the way, the metal side stakes are just fabbed up from two sizes of square steel tube nested together.

I saw some at the local Tractor Supply yesterday for $5.00 each. Haven't bought any yet since I'm still designing my Carryall. Trailer builder/supply stores should have them also. I suppose they are called "stake pocket brackets"................. Mike

Well here it is---not really finished yet as I need to test it out first

DSCN0607.jpg

This will give ya a idea how steep my roads are
DSCN0605.jpg

DSCN0603.jpg

So I went down the road----loaded some gravel----little less than 1/2 full---& kept the load close to the 3 point hitch---the front end was very loose and I decieded to take some of before I went up the last hill.
So I need some weights on the front now-----don't know how much 150# is gonna help----guess I will find that out soon as I add some weights.:D

I've been thinking of the carryall and mounting a trailer like you have on it- without the wheels. I figured two 45 degree 2x4's on the carry all with brackets for the trailer axle. Take the tongue off the trailer and mount some stops for the trailer to sit on on the verticals of the carryall. Use a pin for the release. Tip the carryall and you have a gravity dump body.
I've got a FEL on the tractor. I'm putting a snow blade on the bucket. But I need something to carry and dump the horse manure when I clean the barn during the winter time.

Dang, Gunner, with that hilly place you work in, it makes me glad that I live in Kansas. :D Maybe you need a FEL to go along with your gravel work.
