I,ve been trying to talk to an actual person at TELUS for the last 5 days, and all the messages do is keep sending you in a circle until you get pi$$ed off, and hang up. Customer service sucks, it appears every companies only concern is the bottom line, so the fewer people working for them, the better for the bottom line. They don,t seem to care if some customers switch to a competitor, knowing that it will only be a matter of time before they get ticked off with the company, and circle back again, to give them another try.

And on the 8th year, God burned his oldest set of annual tax records.
I wouldn’t advise ever destroying those. I now have all of mine dating back to 1993 1994.

A relative had her identity stolen, by somebody in New York. She didn’t know and it got intermingled with the other woman’s for years. apparantly the imposter even collected SS illegally, and has since passed away. It is so messed up she will never get her account completely straightened out, where as if she’d had her old tax returns that would be possible.
Luckily Joann has worked as town librarian for years and has been paying into the Maine Employee’s Retirement system, so she isn’t completely screwed.

There's no point in keeping them too long unless you like that kind of stuff. Some folks have all of their paychecks. I just found my high school transcripts in out basement today. Not a great student. 😬

But I got an A in Chorus and Special Ensemble Singers all 4 years, typing, electronics, and marriage class. I ended up with two degrees in electronics, had a good career in computers, and have been with my wife for 43 years, so I guess I got those parts correct. 🙃

As I said before, it would have helped my relative to claim her full SS payments if she'd had all of her old returns.
A few years ago my mother gave all of us our old report cards which she had saved for decades.
Check stubs are a bit redundant once you get a W-2; but I will admit that last year I burned all of mine going back to when I started my current job in 2004.
I also have one stub from my first job out of college in 1980... I pay more in taxes now than I brought home back then.

But can you still sing?
Nope. Something happened in my late 30s and I lost a lot of my voice. I can't scream or yell with much volume at all either. Sad, because I was a great backup singer. Did a few solos.

But, when no one is looking, I pretend I can still sing in the car... My dog used to howl along with me! :ROFLMAO:

Maybe 40 years ago a GF who was a schoolteacher was curious about mine. We made a trip up to my hometown and looked thru their archives (the dreaded "permanent record" teachers used to threaten you with :ROFLMAO: ). Most of the comments written about me in school pretty much applied then too. Much along the line of if a subject interested me I'd do well, but if it didn't, well not so much.
School for the most part bored me.

Oh, I read the comments section, too. I highlighted the ones that amused me the most for my kids to read over the holidays. 🙃

I pretty much dropped out of school after 3rd grade. I attended, but rarely cared. It did not interest me. Not until I got into electronics my senior year in high school and technical college. I do better with self-study.

yesterday my wife had trouble with her VPN.
The support person, when my wife finally got through to them, told her to call back in 3 hours.
They could not get to their tools. Which I guess means their system was down

Yeah. When we had issues like that, we'd tell them the truth (not that we suck), that our systems were down, and if we could have her number we'd call her back as soon as we were able, if that were acceptable to her.

When ever I get someone that is actually helpful, I praise them and thank them because that doesn’t happen much anymore. I am stickler for keeping a paper trail, it has helped me out many times when dealing with a company.

What incentive do companies have for selecting employees and training them well? Companies that fail get bailed out and make another run.

I had one guy with ATT that had an obvious accent from Bangladesh tell his name was George Washington. I told him my name is Abraham Lincoln and need to get this screw up fixed.

I've been doing sales, tech support, customer service, and returns online for 15 years. I'd like to think I have honed my skills and that I can provide better service today than 'yesterday'.
The customer hasn't faired as well. I think you all know what I'm talking about. Free returns at Amazon sparked a nation of test buyers. Tiktok and You Tube have erased the ability to follow written instruction or understand a diagram.
I could go on about the shortened attention span and lack of patience.
I know its not everybody. But there is a changing trend in how people approach customer service.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Read the instruction manual, never !!! Use common sense, what’s that ? Now days thats called being “woke”

I assembled a portable basketball hoop and backboard for my son 2 weeks ago. I ended up taking it apart as many times as I put it together. The instruction were decent and all the parts were there. I chalk it up to old age...

I'm NOT reading you called customer service each time you took it apart.
I found the old guys were more likely to research and solve a problem than the younger guys who want to call somebody and have somebody tell them what to do.

There's a local pizza place myself and a friend had been going for about a year.
Pizza and wings were great and reasonable.
Buddy was telling the owner how much his food and quality was appreciated.
Man, the guy sucked it up like a cat being petted while lying in the sun.
After a while the wings started to go down hill. Small, broken bones, poorly cooked.
Last time I went in I tried to speak to the same owner.
Now, he didn't have time to talk to me. They were dead at the time. I didn't want anything except to mention my disappointment.
He flat out refused to come to the counter.
He never learned that you have to take the good with the bad.
We've never gone back. Found a new place to get the munchies for the crews card night fix.

Wife and I stopped going out to dinner for about 3 yrs. We saved a lot of money!
In-laws drug us out to the outback steak house last Friday night. At 9 pm the place was empty. Service was slower than death. My steak was a poor cut of 50% less meat for 50% more money. We left there glad to never go back. I don't know how any restaurant is surviving these days

Went to Applebees for my wife's birthday (I paid) of course and we both had the Ribeye with a side of onion rings and salad. Wasn't cheap but it was excellent and so was the service. Eating out today (no matter where you go, isn't cheap anymore). Steaks were done exactly like we like them too. I was pretty impressed.
