My desk job has turned into a work in the warehouse for a week or so job. Myself and another parts man have been given the job of turning about $10,000 worth of relativly dead stock into marketable inventory .We have to change the lenghts and configuration of about 200 pieces of knife assemblies for after market kits.
The saw we are useing is the neatest unit it has a motor mounted to the back end of a rt angle box it is about 40-1 ratio so the blade only turns 55rpm and has a circular hack saw blade .From what is on it for specs I believe it is maybe European product.
I looked at surplus centre and there appears to be motors and gearboxes that could be used to make such a thing for about $200.00 no idea what a blade is worth but I could buy that from one of my employers purchasers. So nice not to have sparks flying into burnable stuff and at other workers .I believe they are fairly costly to buy.I think I would watch for the opportunity to pick up a grinder cutoff saw from scrap for a base to start from and see what would evolve .I put 0 value on my time for these projects , in fact when I build anything usefull that actualy works I consider that payment.
I would like to know if anyone is familiar with these saws ,what are their opinions and if I am just having a bad dream.
