That's about what I did when I replaced a deck that I had put in w/ ring-shank 30 years ago.For this job I think I'd start out with my sawzall and a really long metal cutting blade to cut through all the nails. Then see if the wood will just pull out.

Cut a strip of floor out so you can slide the sawsall between the joists and the floor then work down the joist cutting nails with the sawsall . Leaves the nail in the hole.
