I agree. I can see my way to making a pantograph. Doing 80% of what I want to do without having to learn everything that goes into CNC.
Here you go.
That was just amazing, I watched it several times.
just wait 'till you see an optically guided tracer.
Hmmmm, is this something like "as seen on TV for $19.95" or is it the new up coming Star Wars movie or Terminator?
Like this, plasma is the first part of the video, torch towards the end.
I took the plans to the local machine shop and they told me that they could do the parts for over $2100 + the $150 set up fee. I have quit sending any work to them. Ed
That goes with the "if the only tool you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail." Saying.
There is a lot of time and money spent in machining of uncritical areas in many projects.
I guess this a little more than $19.95. If these things cost $3000.00+, one must have a lucrative business with a lot of duplicate cutting to do for a machine like that to pay for it self.Like this, plasma is the first part of the video, torch towards the end.

Your looking at $250,000 for a "little" new laser or water jet machine, $3k is nothing.
Much more productive and accurate than the pantograph but not one that you will find at many homes.
Yep, me too, no need and it's way to much$$$, but if I did need something to make some repeated cuts, I have (jwmorris) make me one like what he has, and since we're best friend and we both voted for Obama, he probably could make me one for around $1,000.00+or-.For me I can't say I need the pantograph but I can make it and have less than $100 in it and that is worth it to me. $3000 makes it out of the question.
