Omega, before i bought mine I thought I may only use mine for a while and sell it. After using it, I think I'll definitely be hanging onto it long-term.

I have an idea for a lift assist... I could disconnect the 3 point and hitch the vacuum directly to the tractor frame, then have a few bars stick out from the hopper frame and rest on the 3 point arms, so when 3 point is lifted it'll lift the hopper up.

That sounds like a great idea. I don't mow with my tractor so that wouldn't be an option for me. I use mine primarily for leaves so my loads are somewhat less than heavy grass.

I doubt the three point would raise it high enough. You have to get off anyway to open the collector, so why not just use the prop rod?

I got a new XL model in March.
The first time I used it the grass was nice an green and lush. I filled the hopper about 3/4 maybe a little less, then full. Went to unload. Just to heavy to pickup and dump. Ended up raking the grass out till I could lift it. The second load which was about 1/2 full. Still couldn't lift it.
Well I fixed that problem. I got the power unloader unit. Simple to install and works great. Worth the $325.

I'm thinking that if I have the 3 point do the lifting I can fill it up more. The lift rod can still hold it, I just want the 3 point to do the main part of the heavy lifting instead of my back. Another idea I had was to simply add a rod sticking out that would increase leverage for hand lifting.
