cylinder safety stops for *bucket* cylinders

Couple of thoughts: 1). when your platform is low, it has to be tipped forward in order to be level when it's raised to working height, unless you have a mechanically self leveling bucket. 2).There are also self-leveling control valves which try to maintain the platform horizontal position for short periods of time. 3). Another though is the use of a platform mounted remote height & level control station added to your post mounted control valves. More hoses, more chance for leaks, more risk. Don't bump into it while working the job or you'll be bailed out.

Why not just buy a lift specifically designed to meet your needs? I did, and found there are a LOT more uses of a boom lift and those needs involve heights much higher than loader reach. Mine is self leveling, has load sensing pads that prevent you from over-reaching your desired position in case it gets tippy. Rent one and try it out.

BTW: Unless you have rock hard tires, your platform is going to quite bouncy, something hard to get used to at first, plus with 500 lbs on it, the bounce frequency might make you 'seasick' and that's no joke. BTW: This gal had no trouble wrenching a windmill head at 30' height.

Few people realize the movement and sway of an aerial lift or bucket truck. Not for the faint hearted. Challenging to do tasks that require two hands.

Even with our limited lift tractors, always should wear a fall harness.

Having a competent operator driving the tractor while doing basket work sure helps. Wife is a good operator. Definitely a marriage building exercise.

Did use a KX excavator to skidsteer adapter to use basket on backhoe to do a repair on the barn where I couldn’t reach with the FEL. Easier and maybe safer than building scaffolding. Like outriggers. Have used the outriggers to plumb up doing a FEL lift on a slope. Also for polesaw and limb clipper.

Lots of cost, welding and painting work just to replace safe boring scafolding. Guess its fun inventing projects.

Scaffolding is diffucult to get into the forrest, and needs a very good footing. I own scaffolding.

If I understand, you are concerned about a chaotropic bucket curl. Just weld a short chain to the loader arm and chain link hook to the top of the bucket. After it's raised, just hook the chain. The bucket can't curl no matter what.

A new word or a blatant misspelled one... How about CATASTROPHIC???

Why would anyone want to weld chain hooks on any loader when sequestering the curl cylinders with a set of ball valves (2 on each cylinder's ports) will achieve the desired result and not detract from the appearance of the loader or it's functionality at all. You get it in the level position you require, close the valves, which will contain the fluid with no escape and go about your business.

I'm in 99% agreement with this (the missing 1%: It's either misspelled very strangely or a very wrong choice for the subject, but it's not a new word.)

Seems like the valves are a very elegant solution if you insist on having the problem.

Ok, a bit much on the spelling police. We've all done it.

Personally I just chose to read it as chaotrophic, a new field of study about chaos in the food chain.

I'd be hesitant with ball valves. But they are possibly the least-worst solution available.
