IF the cat is on the tractor, you shouldn't have any mouse nesting/chewing problems. I'll take the paw prints over mice nests under the hood anyday.

I agree. I encourage the cats to hang out in my shop. Mouse destruction is hard to cure once it gets started.

I say let the cats stay and you won't have any mice eating your wires. I say they are a good thing.

Considering how much I dislike cats, PETA would be on my case if I said what I would do with them.

I see you are a proud owner of 35 acres...you will discover how many critters will take up residence on your property without a herd of barn cats to keep order...:D

Without a doubt; but that's what hawks and snakes are for. Plus I'm highly allergic to cats, which is another reason I don't want any around.

Ok, so I finally got something new :)D ) but the barn cats won't leave it alone. You know, paw prints everywhere, seat is filthy every time I sit down.... Before I put out the bowl of antifreeze, any suggestions?

Supposedly, cats hate the smell of vinegar. Try putting some on a rag and set on floor mat. See what happens.

Hopefully, some of these suggestions will work and the 'bowl of antifreeze' is a joke. Anyone who has seen an animal die from antifreeze poisoning wont soon forget it. Staggering, vomiting, seizures and kidney failure is not a pleasant way to go.

Several years ago when I was logging, I got up in the morning to start up the Cat D9, hit the starter and black fur and blood went flying everywhere. It seems that a cat had found a nice warm place to sleep right in front of the radiator...no more paw prints.:D

:D :D :D

Your choice, cat or mice.
I'd flip the seat up, put a drop cloth on the hood to keep the cat prints, bird and spider droppings off and all should be well.

I'm pretty sure that is how my last dog died. He would end up getting out about once every 2-3 months. Then, he started having siezures, kidney failure, the whole 9 yards. It wasn't a pretty sight. If I ever find out who did it.....

Antifreeze works pretty fast, not in months. A few days will do it. I think most of the deaths that way are accidental from leaking vehicles.

Allergic to Jet Guns too! Time for a beer! :D

At least your not allergic to that, I hope?

davitk,

As far as the paw prints go, I just can't see you using this tractor for anything but mowing if your bothered by a few paw prints? What are you going to do if you get mud on the bucket? Maybe you could train the cats to wash it. :D

A cat that's a good mouser is worth it's weight in gold and they make really good house pets. We live on a backroad where people seem to think it's a good location to dump their unwanted cats and that's when they become a problem. Research has shown that they can impact songbird populations and other small mammels.
