AND the TAXPAYER will get ROBBED! AGAIN!

I've often thought how tough it would be when confronted with different situations.
For example...the girl who was mugged, when do you pull the trigger if the perp is unarmed?
You hear a noise at night, see someone walking down your driveway carrying your television...sould you shoot the perp in the back?
Certainly if someone is breaking into my house I can't assume they're unarmed and I would shoot to kill.
There was one strange case a few years ago where an elderly man living alone was robbed. Things stolen from his home while he was away. He figured out who it was, a guy and girl neighbors. So he waited with his gun correctly assuming they would return which they did. When they broke in he shot and killed them both. He was then tried, convicted and sentenced of murder and is in prison still.
I support our second amendment 100%, but it gets really sticky knowing WHEN to pull the trigger.

It really isnt sticky. You must know deadly force laws in your state if you intend to use deadly force. In this case, he knew why they were there (to take possessions). He could not prove his life was in any danger. If your life isnt in danger you really cant start shooting people in most states. This is likely why he is in prison.

The problem the way I see it, is if you own anything or have any money, and you go and shoot someone, you stand to loose a lot in legal fees defending yourself. Maybe, WAY, WAY more than anything a burglar might have taken from you.

What if the "burglar" decides to take your life? They do that fairly often to make sure your mouth stays shut. Or just because it feels good, or on a dare or gang initiation ritual. Or for no reason at all. Yes when you have to shoot someone, you run a huge risk of losing money. You also run a huge risk by not shooting.

Yesterday, in Baltimore, a 55 year old lady stopped to give a "homeless" mom a few dollars,,

it turns out, the "homeless" mom was part of a robbing team,,
After the 55 year old lady stopped,, a guy jumped out, and stabbed the lady to death,,, so that they could rob her.

That is the end of my donations,,,

Never ever never give money to panhandlers. Never. Give only to local charitable orgs that will see the money gets distributed to those that need it in the form of services.

My wife and I have been volunteering at our local food bank for a couple hours one night a week. We mostly pack weekend lunches for needy children, but occasionally work in the food distribution center (think grocery store). The people get a ticket and based on their needs, the ticket shows how many items they can get. They are only allowed to come to the food bank once per month. A typical family can take unlimited breads (they freeze well), 30 canned goods, unlimited canned beans, two bags of potatoes, three pastries (pies, cake, etc...), two bags of veggies, one bag of cat food, and diapers based on need and # of children. To a TEE, everyone that comes to the food bank is friendly and well mannered.

That's where I suggest you make your donations. ;)

There are plenty of "predators" every where you go. We aren't really "safe" out here in the rural areas, and never really were. You make your own safety.

Heck, we own rural vacant land about 9 miles outside of town. Right after we bought it back around 1990, I struck up a conversation with the lady that lived across the street. I told her it will be nice when we are able to build a house out here in the country and move out of the city, as we no longer felt safe in our city house. She looked at me kinda sad and said her husband was knocked unconscious and robbed in their driveway a few years before. :(

Criminals have cars.

A guy would be smart to carry two wallets. One with a bit of cash, old expired DL and credit cards!

I had a late, great aunt that lived in Liberty City, Miami, FL. She planned on getting mugged every day of her last 30 years there. She had a bunch of purses from thrift shops. She'd stuff a purse full of Christian literature and put her wallet down the front of her pants.

Many times people stole her purse and ran off. It gave her great satisfaction.

There's laws that would put stop to such actions, but don't use those 1800's laws anymore.

Slim to none of getting a CCWP where I live... it is public policy.

That said... crime is down in my city but way up in outlying areas...

Maybe too many pitbulls here and people that will shoot an intruder?

Or... maybe the suburbs and rural are easy pickings?

Just curious if there is a single instance when a person who has a legal license to carry a concealed weapon used it to commit crimes against others? Anti gun people seem to say this rather frequently, but from what I know, they seem to be the most law abiding people in the country.

I live about as remote as a person can get - except Doofy. Seventeen years ago - almost to the day - late at night - heard the door shut on a vehicle. Looked out the kitchen window - a pickup was parked in the yard. Called 911 - fortunately the call for assistance was transferred to the State Police who had an officer in the vicinity. Once the police vehicle was coming down my driveway there was no place for the pickup and two guys to escape. They had many of my tools and equipment loaded in their pickup.

I or they were lucky - they were only coming to rob. If they had entered my house - no quam whatsoever - I would have shot them both dead - dead as door nails. And I would have kept shooting until it was more than obvious that they were both stone cold dead.

My tolerance for those who would rob or intend to do bodily harm is an absolute ZERO. It is proven - day after day - we as citizens of this great country must be prepared to defend ourselves - our criminal justice system seldom can.
