Darn Crows! How do I keep them away ?

For me the shotgun is the gun of choice, usually shooting #6's. I'll bet the kids will enjoy the blind and calling them in. Who knows...maybe you've stumbled upon another new hobby...

He loved the blind! I'll put it to you this way, we are so busy here that the blind was purchased the summer of 07' and this was the first time we took it out the box. It's a bit smaller than I would have liked enough room for one person but 2 folding chairs will be a bit tight, and I am concerned about elbow room when it comes to swing and take aim.

It's my first time in a blind and I found it to be quite warm just for the few moments I was in there, I can just guess how hot it will be with 2 of us but as it get's further into fall it may not be as bad.

My only shotgun is an 870 defender. It's got a short barrel and I have no idea what type of choke is in it (probably a modified) but I do not belive it is interchangeable, not what I would consider a bird gun. Eventually I plan on a shotgun purchase for turkey, I have thought about buying another barrel but heck the prices on 870 barrels is almost as much as another inexpensive shotgun!

Not being too funny...but you CAN eat crow. There's some pretty good recipies out there for crow breasts. We have tried them and I have to say they are good. Meat is meat, pretty much, you know. You should see what people eat in other countries. If you get a chance, post a pic or two also, Rich.

A few recipies...

Only one last comment, then I'll be quiet...Eat more iguana, the other green meat...

Here is an old Australian recipe for cooking crows.

1. Catch your crow
2. Get a pot large enough to fit the crow in.
3. Put a rock in the bottom, put the crow in and cover with water.
4. Cook for 2 hours.
5. Throw away the crow and eat the rock.

When I was a kid, I liked to try different things and found that most of them weren't bad at all. We made blackbird pie (like chicken pot pie), ate lots of those yellow break meadowlarks, made turtle soup, barbecued raccoon, etc. in addition to lots of squirrels and rabbits (and we didn't care what kind of rabbit; cottontail, swamp rabbit, or jack rabbit).

So, one day I killed a crow, skinned and gutted it and had it ready to cook, and my mother wouldn't let me in the house with it.:D So I never got to try it.

Bird...You know, talking to people who remember the aftermath of the Great Depression, all kinds of fare were eaten out of necessity...meadow larks, robins and the like. Nothing wrong with that. Meat is meat, and if you can get over your prejudices about them, there's all kinds of things to try. Just think about it, hogs are pretty dirty and omnivorous but we eat them. I have also eaten raccoon, armadillos, snake, turtle, birds, and other 4 legged critters. Growing up overseas, you learn to try some really different things and that's good...when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Funny stuff Weedpharma!...Never ate a rock, though...
