Davis Split bucket.. What for?

Found this loader. Why is the bucket split into two sides?
Also, if anyone is familiar.. this Davis has its own pump.. why? is it normal?

I think that's there to reinforce the bucket. My loader doesn't have one and the cutting edge was bent into a smile when I bought the tracror.

+1 on the bucket divider - also, you didn't say but I'm guessing the pump is a PTO pump - I have two older tractors, wanted more remotes - discovered that the only place I could get a hydraulic feed was by cutting METRIC tubing and re-routing it, and TEE-ing into a 1" low pressure line for return.

Others have used rear remotes to run a loader. I'd almost rather use a shovel and pain killers, YUCK!!!

Plus, most older tractors have fairly low flow systems so a loader would be kind of sluggish in operation.

The PTO typically has nearly as much horsepower available as the tractor, so a PTO pump can fix ALL the shortcomings.

The pump might be designed to mount on the front of the tractor, driven by a coupling on the crankshaft pulley.

On some tractors the shaft goes through the axle.


Does the loader tower have the hydraulic oil reservoir built into the loader frame, like mine?

It came with a pump also.
