Daytime running lights... like or dislike???

In my opinion the daytime running lights make oncomming vehicles easier to see.

The only thing I don't like is the $125 dollars the replacement control module for my truck cost and the fact that the lights would not shut off when the module toasted itself.

I just got my first car with them. The only problem I have wih them is remembering to turn the lights on when I need them. I mean, the headlights come on, and I sometimes don't remember to pull the light switch so the tail lights also come on.

I've noticed that about half of the Chevy/GMC's I see have one daytime running light burnt out.

Yeah, I remember that problem with my '97 Chevy. I think that if they are going to use the headlights as a DRL they should have to have auto lights. I think now they all do.

I have to say that I love DRLs. When we leave our house we pull out onto our road and then we usually have to make a right turn on a major 2 lane highway (US 50). At this section of road there is a drag strip about 1/4 mile long that everyone loves to pass on. Even though we are making a right turn and would normally be mainly concerned with cars coming from the left we really have to pay attention to the cars coming from the right. It makes it so much easier when the cars in the left lane (the lane that I want to use) has the lights. I've had a couple of close calls from cars blending in with the road depending on how the sun was shining.

You and Dick have a few years on me, but I don't like them either. Whenever the wife and I are out and about and we see these types of lights coming at us, the wife usually says something like "I wish you still had your guns. You could shoot out those D _ _ _ lights!" /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That's my major beef with daytime running lights. Since people see that their headlights are already on, they forget to turn them on when it gets dark, hence they are driving without tail lights.

Why don't they make it so the tail lights also come on too? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Me neither! Dick, is it just because our old eyes are getting older and weaker, or is the same for everyone?

I'm 30, and I'm BLINDED by those lights when they're coming at me! If it's the case for everyone, why are they permitted?

Just set the parking brake -- no need to turn off the truck.

A good clue when it gets dark is that you can't read your odometer/speedometer because you don't have your lights on.
