Is the Decompression mechanism an on off device or does it release in steps? The reason I ask is mine (2000BD) sticks a little on release a the very top sometimes. It's not the handle/cable as I disconnected the assy to check it out.

I'm not sure I understand your question. It opens the valves a little or a lot depending on how far you pull the lever. I have to push mine back in to release it.

I was trying to ask if it is like a light switch, on or off but nothing between, or if it was like a volume control, i.e. digital or analog. I think you answered my question:)
When I push the lever back in, it sometimes doesn't return to the end of its travel. From what you told me, I'll check the lever assy again.

Thanks

It is full on or full off. Don't use it to kill your engine. It is used to help start the motor not kill it.....

yeah, I was just concerned that it wasn't returning to the off position all the way. If it is full on/off, then it doesn't matter as there isn't an in between. Thanks for the input.
