Muhammad,

Thanks for all the pictures. It really helps understand what they do. I am going to drive by the wells this coming weekend, too.

Muhammad,

That slab looks like it has keyways in it around the perimeter. Any idea what they're for? Additional equipment? Pole Barn?

Nope, nothing else other than what's in the photo... don't know about the setup really, just what I can see looking at it.

Hmmm, now I'm really wondering why those keyways are in there. Maybe something has to lock onto the slab during contruction. Crane? Seems I've seen similar keyways cut, but I can't remember where.

Interesting article. I do know there is a salt mine about 45 minutes to the Northwest. The mine goes under one of the finger lakes. Now that would be a major disaster!

It has made it through this forum once before, but it's so cool I'll resurrect it. There was a Disappearing Lake! in Louisiana, caused by drilling into a mine through a lake bed. Interesting story.

John,

If you're just north of Newark Valley (Berkshire?), then you know this area well, I'm assuming. You can see the drilling rig from the new bridge that connects Apalachin to Campville. Best at night, when its lit up. I believe this rig is located off of Jewett Hill road, but once you spot it, you could find it by driving south on Pennsylvania Ave in Apalachin, turning right on Barton Road, and keeping you eyes peeled. I'm sure you could get the exact location by asking a few people. If it were me, since its just a short drive from your house, I'd take a look/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif.

I PM'd John the exact location... you can see it at night from Vestal. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I'm in the town of Newark Valley, about 3-4miles north from the village. I do believe the tract of land that they are interested in, goes into the town of Berkshire. The directions I received from Muhammed are very clear and even though I haven't been down those particular roads in some time, it should be an easy matter to find the wells. I should be able to go see them next weekend.

I wasn't aware that they were such a specticle in the valley. Most of my travels between Owego and Binghamton has been done in the daytime, and they just didn't catch my eye. Maybe it has to do with it being west to east travel, ie leaving work to go purchase something in the triple cities. My return route home, is usually 26 north to 38B.

Doc:

There have also been earthquakes in the Denver area related to waste water injection which has since been discontinued. Parts of the California area have also had approximetly 7 ft. of substinence attributed to the withdrawlall of hydrocarbon fluids.
