3043 D, R1, rear SCVs, loaded rears [washer fluid & iron weights].

There is NO PROOF that I went through Hardee's on the test drive.

It’s a D, which means manual transmission. The one near the seat is the shifter I assume.

In the OP's photo, there's one on the FEL pillar and there's the standard JD 'floor mounted' one.

Perhaps it's because JD has contracted a separate company to build their FELs and that's the way they build them so that they can be used with tractors that don't have a 'standard' (already included) joystick?

Here in Aus, I know that my JD 300CX FEL has been replaced with an Aus-built "Challenger" FEL. (probably due to some Aus regulation/requirement)

Yes, thank you everyone.
It is the gear shift lever [four gears].
The FOR/REV lever is on the left hand dashboard [and it goes 1 mph faster in REVERSE than it does forward]
Deere's website has detailed pics on all of the controls.

The economy series [3E / 3D] use the same loader with the integrated [to the loader] joystick.
This practice was common for open station machines that were 'universal use' vs dedicate tractor/loader/backhoe [TLB] across all of the brands.
Loaders for my 2017 Massey Ferguson 2605H are made that way.

Deere changes the numbers once in a while, which looks more like marketing than engineering.
(both for loaders & machines)

The "bucket-end" of the loader mounts the same things as the 3R series (and probably more, my experience is with the 3 series compacts with this size loader).

Let me know if you have more questions, there isn't very much "owner" info on this machine out there yet.
