We have the 12/12 power reverser in Kansas. The only difference I’ve noticed is on the new 5065 the PTO engagement is manual instead of electronic and of course the joystick is slightly different but those are minor details.

I think I actually prefer a manual engagement over the electric button.

I just purchased an M7060, this past year. I have 3 other kubotas. I've looked at JD, and they are fine machines. You can get good or bad with either brand. The M series Kubota and the 5E JD are made to compete with each other. One thing to keep in mind is you are buying the dealership support. That makes more difference than anything else, to me. Which ever brand you like, it pays to shop around. I saved a few thousand by making a few phone calls.

phastmac - agreed..........I have had a couple opportunities to deal with our local Kubota dealer and it was not pleasant and truly soured me - I was willing to go to another dealer farther to buy orange as I wanted to see how competitive they might be price wise - for me and what I was looking for at the time they were priced the highest so it was not feasible for me - I would have forgone the dealer that was bad and tried another so I could have orange I know they are good.

I have had great experiences with our deere dealer but I was not really confident they would work with me on price but for what I was looking for I wound up with green and the best deal/pricing of all - I was floored honestly I never expected it - so yes look around at everything - I think there are opportunities to be had in different sized machines depending on the manufacturer and their cost/unit - I don't think you can use the generalization that one brand is always less expensive every time. I think each manufacturer these days has different price points in different areas that make one better one time and one another it seems.

they also run random specials to dealers and on specific models for loyalties and incentives for regional marketing purposes and also saturation of product - its far more complex than we realize in strategy especially the big dealers and manufacturers green/red/blue/orange - they didn't get that size by making junk or creating missed opportunities ;-)

perfect example - in the matter of a weeks post for guido - we have found an opportunity to possibly save 10Kish on a tractor - same manufacturer - same tractor - different dealer - different market area.............in this case that is a blessed situation to be able to use $10K on other needs for a non profit serving others - now that excites me!!!!

Okay don't shoot but I think we are going to shoot for a smaller series.

I talked to the group and we all went up to Kubota to look at a M7060. It's a little larger than what most of the folks are comfortable or used to operating.
I know they would eventually get used to it but that's not always the best option when you have rotational volunteers.

We want to be able to run a modern square baler, MoCo, Disc, plow, seeder, and lift large rounds when necessary. Would an MX58 get the job done here?
The dealer was pretty adamant that the MX wasn't the right choice but I need a little guidance here. Should I be checking Mahindra as well?
Deere doesn't have a great option at this price point as a 4055 or 4066M is a premium model.
Thanks for all the advice.

Hi Guido, the MX 58 will run a baler in terms of hp, but with a baler behind for safety sake I'd want a tractor with an agricultural frame, especially if you have hills, on the flat you may get away with the smaller frame.

Yes, you are right, I tried to make a deal on an M5660. I couldn't get any dealer to deal with me. But on the M7060, I had much more dealing room. I wound up getting the M7060 at close to what they were quoting me on the 5660. They wouldn't budge on the 5660.

Got the quote back from Kubota and I'm going Deere. Both dealers within 100 miles aren't even close to the 5065E. In fact to get within a couple grand they had to quote me a 5660 in an 8 speed and then I should be looking at 5055E in Deere which makes the price spread even further apart!

I think Deere is trying to be very competitive in this price class and thanks to the helpful friends here I'm getting a smoking deal. I have a sneaking suspicion that due to some of the economic changes that are occurring it's going to be harder for the foreign manufacturers to compete. I know the 5065 is made in India but maybe someday Deere will start manufacturing the components in the U.S again.

Thanks again!

Well Congrats Guido!!!! so glad you are able to get it done for your organization and help all in the process - smoking good deal in many ways

Spring for the 12/12 Power Reverser model over the 9/3. MUCH easier and more pleasant to use. Comes with the m540 loader as well.

I was told that’s actually a misprint. They both get the M520 and that’s the only loader available for a 45-75E.

We are still working things out on a couple options. If we can’t come to terms I might have to rethink the deal. That deal is only with one remote and no 3rd function which is must.

I actually am considering the 5660SUHD as well due to it being right on the price target and having all the options I need.

They are both 50 PTO but I believe the Deere is quite a bit heavier.

Price difference on Deere website between 9F/3R and 12F/12R Powereverser is $2692 list so the $2300 difference is just under a 15% discount for the upgrade. It does look like they misprinted the loaders - the 540M is for the "M" series tractors and the 520M is for the "E" series from Deere website.

See the Compiler's Notes.] :: 2:) Tennessee Code :: US Codes and Statutes :: US Law :: Justia <-- see section 21 for Tennessee truth-in advertising law...hold their feet to the fire a little - see if you can get them to cough up some remotes and a better price on 3rd function (3rd function usually is an extra - even had to pay extra on my loaded Case Farmall 75C for it) in lieu of the advertised 540M loader. Even if you can get them at dealer cost and they toss in the labor you will be ahead. Once again, good luck to you whichever way you go.

The loader is screwed up on the ad but the price is for stock units only so they are base models without much extra on them. If Guido can get his extras (remote and 3rd function) for good price he is still in his budget and a good price on the tractor. I paid extra for 3rd function, loaded tires and a set of forks. All worth it.

I looked at 5075E and bought M7060HDC12

JD dealer is closer to me. I was not too interested in the Deere economy model asked @ M series and it was far more expensive than Kubota.

I am guessing both are good tractors but I am happy with my choice.

Some of y'all have some price gouging dealers around y'all. $45K for an open station, 4WD, FEL 5065E? That tractor better have every option available to an open station 5E there is. I'm talking 3 rear remotes, 3rd remote on the loader, single point hydraulic line hookup, wheel weights, fender guards, canopy, etc, etc, and in reality that price would still be way too much. My dealer will sell you a cabbed, 4WD 5075E with a 520M loader for less than $45K. My tractor was $30,250. I added the FEL package and the knob that adjusts the speed and firmness of the F/R shift, and payed under $36,500, and yes it's a 12x12 PowerReverser model.

I looked at a new open station, 4WD, 12x12 powershuttle M7060 with a FEL, and it was priced at a straight $36K. Both my local JD and Kubota dealers are known to be excellent. My JD dealer has new 4WD, 12x12 5055E's priced at a little over $26K. They seem to add about $2K for the next model up, similarly equipped 5E's.

BTW I'm pretty sure the 4 cylinder 5E's (5085E/5100E) also use the 540M loader.

I really like my local JD dealer. I just didn稚 end up liking the size of the cab on the 4066R. My local dealer worked hard to make the price competitive.

Did you mention cab or no cab? Sorry if I missed it. For cab in the TX summer the M7060 was superior. I ran the AC units on both in 105 degree weather. That was also comparing the M7060 to the 5075M.

Point being as mentioned get out and drive/demo both. The experience will be very helpful.

Some of y'all have some price gouging dealers around y'all.

Around here it's lack of any competition. My closest dealer is only 12 miles away and sells only New Holland. The next closest is 130 miles and sells only Kubota. After that you have to drive 200+ miles to Idaho or Oregon. So when you ask for a quote for a New Holland or Kubota around here you'll get quoted list price - same as what you build it for on line.

I would be searching far and wide for better quotes and have it delivered.

It’s been interesting to say the least.

On the Deere 5065E -
By the time you add a 3rd function, go global or SSQA and ditch the middle buster for a set of pallet forks it’s right under 40k, even with the “special pricing”. Also it truly is a 49 PTO hp tractor.

On the M7060 -
This is a great machine but I would prefer it with the 12 speed. Once you add the upgraded tranny, 2nd remote, 3rd function, and a worklight it’s above 40k.

I also looked at a Mahindra 6065 and that thing is a beast but the financing sucks and well.....resale is poor at best.

So I took another look at a M5660SUHD from Kubota. I was surprised to learn it’s a 50 PTO hp tractor and has the same loader as the M7060. It can be had with a 3rd function, second remote, worklight, etc.. for the mid 30’s. I think that’s probably the route I’m going to take for now but I’ll keep ya all posted.

What I’ve learned from this whole experience is a mid sized open station economy utility tractor will end up costing an average of 35k no matter which manufacturer I choose so basically it comes down to features and preference.
