I thought it appropriate to let you all know what a fine machine Deere makes. Pride swallowed here, my neighbor just hooked up my rental tiller to his AWS Deere, and tilled my garden up as if it was grrraaaavy. The little Kubota BX1500 was sad because it got fired after not being able to do the job. I mean the orange tractor just crept along trying desperately to loosen things up, I mean what the heck can 10 pto Hp compare to this monster of a garden tractor. It was fun to watch. I would till the garden for HOURS with a troy built, and this Deere did the whole thing, deep, and without a hitch. It is making me want one bad but I am afraid of the price tag. Well sorry to say, I have an Orange machine delivered for a demo tomorrow which hopefully should have real-world, big-boy power. But that Deere sure looked comfy, and had no problem with traction or anything. The tilt wheel is cool too. I should have looked at the model number but I didn't.

This is simple math. More HP = better performance. Color has nothing to do with it.

The green tractor is a x500 or x700? For the same pricing you can get into a 2305 or 2210 and really have some fun. If I recall the two colors were not to far off in price when you started to do the deal.

I didn't get a good look at the model number but I thought I saw 744 or something on the side if that means anything. I'm just starting to shop around. So far there are Kubotas and New Hollands in the local rental fleet. I can't seem to find a Deere available for rent or a lengthy demo. Not yet anyway. Just starting out here.

The High end over priced Garden Tractors are less tractor for more money than the sub compact tractors.
This not only applies to JD but also goes for Kubota.

My Kubota dealer don't even stock the G and GR series because he says the BX1850 is a much better tractor for about the same or less money.

Jammer, the x744 is a monster, but like Mayor said, for the money you should really look at the 2305

or MF 2300, 2310
Kubota BX 1830 BX 1850 BX24 BX2350.
At these prices stick to the sub Compacts - Stay away from the JD x series garden tractors or any other garden tractor for that matter.

LB, I'm very happy you are so enamored with your kubota, however, this is a Deere thread.

So the Deere thread is for bashing Kubota like you star peformer Jammer is using it for.
But I can't disagree with his post here > is that how it works?
Perhaps I ought to post a few slams against JD over on the Kubota Board since you don't have the right to speak up in defense of JD there cause it's the Kubota board.
Sorry when I see such blatant incorrect statements like his and your
(This is a deer thread) for that matter
I'm going to state the other side of the issue, and I don't care what forum it's on.

LBrown, I read the above thread as a description by Jammer of his real world experience with a Kubota. Perhaps his experience is not typical of a Kubota, which in this case, might have been deficient for any number of reasons, but I don't feel that you have any right to describe his test results as blatantly incorrect or Kubota bashing. I'm assuming that you did not personally witness the test and cannot personally dispute his test results. In any case, it sounds to me like he was impressed with a JD tractor and that is why he is writing in a JD thread.

It seems to me that if he were interested in comments about the Kubota, he would be writing in a Kubota thread instead.

LBrown, certainly you have every right to be here and to voice your comments, which I'm sure are insightful. It is useful many times to hear about other tractors. But, please, do not label other individuals here as bashing or incorrect if they have not had the same experiences as you have had or don't happen to agree with your opinion. Keep in mind that other users of a JD forum typically are interested in comments about JD tractors. If we wanted to read about other tractor makes, we would probably go to those forums.

At what point in time did you change your mind about "garden tractors"? I've read several threads you started asking about this very thing and wanting to know if the price was right.

1*At the Sub compact price point is the time to move away from a garden tractor on up to a sub compact.

{Stay away from the JD x series garden tractors or any other garden tractor for that matter.} was just to reinforce / reinterate Jimingas advice to jammer
Had nothing to do with my position / view on Garden tractors as a whole or in general.

I sure would not rely on anything from a rental yard as a dependable measure of a tractor.

If you were going to buy a new ford car would yopu go to HERTZ or would you try out a new one at the FORD dealer?

You know what Les, I'm glad you don't own a JD. You are one angry, argumentative person and I for one am glad to not have you on this side of the forum on a regular basis.

And it's "My dealer DOESN'T even stock......"

Now that you've learned how to 'color' every other word you might want to get a book on grammar.

Unfortunately, this was not a Consumer Reports test. If it were, there'd be a legitimate gripe with the testing methodology. Unfair to Big Orange or not, we all make decisions based on our perceptions. After all, perception is reality in a lot of Cases (Oh, Deere.........Sorry, I just remembered, this isn't an IH forum).

I see much worse grammar on this board all the time but I don't stoop so low as to rudely correct them publicly on the forum as you just did to me.
BTW I haven't noticed you doing it to anyone else making such errors.

Mr. Brown, I'm sorry the Deere dealer don't like you and will not sell you a green machine. I know how bad you want one. JC

LBrown,

I do not know why you are arguing and making yourself look arrogant and unhelpful. The original poster was posting his own thoughts on a JD GT that his neighbour had used to till up his yard. He had tried to do it with a BX15 and had been less than pleased with the results.

This may be because of a difference in HP, or that it was not a fair test, but I do not think that this matters.

He posted this in the right forum, where it is perfectly acceptable to say how well a tracor has performed.

If it has helped his decision making process of buying a new machine, then that is a good thing.

I don't think you are helping him make his decision though.

I can see why he likes the JD more: it has a lot more luxury in the operating department, more power and probably makes the BX look like a lesser machine.

But, it is a lot more expensive as you have pointed out.

I don't know why you think this, it seems a perfectly good way of getting a good trial out of a tractor as long as it is in good condition.
