Hello,
Hope someone can give me some insight as to what the problem may be with my early 90's deere LX176. It starts fine when I have my foot on the brake, but when I remove my foot, it stalls out. I've checked out some electrical connections, but can't figure it out. Thank you, Steve

Thanks for posting. I have the seat switch taped so I can get off and keep it running. It stalls out when I remove my foot from the brake, which needs to be engaged to start tractor ,there must be a switch somewhere....

Not to be too critical, but don't you think it might have been useful to say that you had taped the seat switch while asking for help with this problem?
Let me ask a question: When the tractor was operating correctly how did the safety interlocks work? Most machines work that you can start and run the machine while off the seat if the brake is engaged, but if the PTO is engaged, or sometimes if the PTO and reverse gear is engaged, the ignition is killed. Are you sure that your tape job is still disabling the seat switch? Most machines have seat, clutch, and PTO switches, and some have neutral or reverse switches.
First you have to know how your tractor works when everything is okay, then you can figure out what might be wrong when it's busted.
