Ya'll here about the new plant Deere is openning in China to build mid and large sized tractors, sprayers, planters, and harvesting equipment? suppose to start producing out of there in 2012

The use of tractors in China is a huge market, and shipping tractors there is not as easy as building them in China for that China market.

I imagine the tractors won't just be for use in China and will also show up in North America. I also think the main reason will be cheap labour and hurt western jobs.

It's hard to find anything not made in China. That's not to criticize the products. They make good things, but it is short-sighted for all of us to always go the lowest price.

I try not to buy anything made in China, but it sure is getting harder all the time.

we all know when that plant in china is up an running they will ship some of the stuff over here.

I was looking at the loader mounts on my 3320 the other day: Made in China. Argh. Can't escape it.

Yeah, there are probably more Chinese made things in our homes, barns and garages than we realize.

It's the wave of the future. Until we can get them to behave the way we do and need salaries to support their new lifestyle I think it'll be hard to keep good paying jobs in this country.

Talked about this with a dealer the other day. According to him theres no way these tractors are coming over here... just too much demand over there, he said... yeah right.

He also said that deere has been aggressive in buying up companies over there as well.. said they just bought the largest (or second largest?) tractor companies in china.

we may not see a Deere with made in china on the side, but i have no doubts well be seeing them with 49.9% chinese products before long. Dont have to look much further than the loaders on the CUTs. IIRC they used to all be made in Welland ont. Now china:mad:

Its hard to find stuff made in the USA. If I had my way, anything made in the USA would have an American Flag on it to make them easy to find. I bought a new radiator for my truck recently online, from AMERICAN Auto Parts, or something like that, but when I got it, "Made in China". Doesn't seem right!

jdbnh is a NEW HOLLAND troll. Read his posts or rather don't and block his posts. He rarely adds anything of any substance to anything. Yes, strong words but true. It is my belief that he is a NH salesman with a grudge.

Maybe so.. But it is a valid point that Deere is expanding capacity in China.

Expect to see a greater percentage of Deeres parts coming out of China (india and mexico for that matter) in the future... At the cost of plants like the now closed Welland works...

Big machines, where shipping plays a major role will be less likely to move, but CUTS and riding mowers etc.. You know Deere is salivating over the potential savings.

Like i told my dealer, they'd be sacrificing their name and reputation for profits... They wouldnt be the first company to do it though...

Last year during the 4th of July the company I work for got a bunch of small vinyl american flags with a straw for a post and magnetic flags for fridges. Both had "made i China" on them. That's just wrong IMO.

It'e economics, folks. Plain, pure, and simple.

The goal of any enterprise is to maximize return while minimizing operating costs. No different than your own business or household. Unless you expect the neighbors to hold a grudge against you for buying your gas at station X or your groceries at store Y......you can't likewise carp when a product someone else buys is made out of this country. That would be unadulterated hypocrisy.

Now, I'm no J.D. fan. But this is not by any means whatsoever the first product sold and marketed in J.D. green that is foreign sourced. Hehehe.....not by a long shot. They loved Zetor in the 1990s and they made them some darn good tractors. A lot of Green-Weenies jump up and down and hoot and holler about their Green Zetors to this day and don't have a clue that they are former Eastern Bloc...

I can certainly recognize the economics and don't particularly worry about buying some stuff made in some other countries, I just remember Tiananmen Square and hate to support that country in any way.
