John Deere 4200 MFWD HST w/ JD 420 FEL w/ 61" loader bucket & toothbar & JD 37 BH w/ 12" bucket
I was at my local Tractor Supply Co. store tonight and saw a generic black steering wheel spinner with exactly the same attaching hardware as my Deere spinner with the green knob and JD logo.

Oh, there was one other difference. The generic black knob was $3.99 while my Deere knob was $9.99! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Worse than that, I'm not sure the black one wouldn't look better on my black steering wheel. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I am very embarrassed to ask this but my wife bought a jd spinner for my 4310, and I can not figure out how the thing mounts. Does it mount to the spokes, or the wheel? I guess I failed the test. If I can't mount a spinner I probably shouldn't own a tractor.

Mine mounted to the wheel. Sadly, I'm in the same boat you are - I couldn't figure it out either /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, and had to have my brother (he got it for me for my birthday) mount it for me /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I'm so ashamed. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Attach it to the spoke. Support the side that touches the spoke (with a nut for example) to keep the spinner square to the wheel face. See attached pic.

I've been looking for an excuse to buy a welder. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the B-I-I-I-G pics, and the clever spacer. Maybe (after I get the welder) I will get mine mounted (after several years). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

'Support the side that touches the spoke (with a nut for example) to keep the spinner square to the wheel face."

Now I know why I spent the extra six dollars. I didn't have to acquire and weld on a spacer. Mine came with a piece of rubber/plastic that slipped over that end to level the spinner on my wheel. The slot for the metal piece was offset so I could get two different adjustment levels from it

I just got back to this thread, and I am glad I asked the ?. I guess I wasn't the only lost person. I can't wait to install the spinner. I have to admit another thing about my tractor, my wife bought it. I feel so good getting this off of my shoulders.

Hey don't feel bad.....I had to reference a pic some other TBN member posted of HIS spinner so I could figure out how to install mine properly....

If your spouse bought the tractor, you are one LUCKY fellow.
Mine didn't even buy me a spinner for my JD....

I posted basically the same question about a month ago up in one of the general forums. It's not obvious at all, and mine came with bolts that were too short to allow the thing to be mounted correctly which confused me even more.
