my toothbar arrived friday. it fits inside bucket ok but the bucket edge will not go all the way down in the grooves, seems like one or 2 of the slots are a little tight. question, how important is it for the bucket edge to be seated all the way down? should i grind and file to make it seat? seems like if u take to much off, then it will be sloppy when u curl the bucket and all pressure will be on bolts, or will it only curl till it takes up slack? appreciate any input.

Not important that the bucket edge fits all the way in the grooves. Mine doesn't and it works fine. Some buckets have a wider edge and won't fit completely into the groove. I have a bobcat tooth bar on a L3710 Kubota-works great! Good luck on your new tooth bar.

Frank,
Here is a close-up photo of the fit of my toothbar. You will see that I also have a "gap" in the grooves...about 1/2 inch. Main thing is that the bar on the top edge and the "bottoms" of the teeth under the bucket edge are fully in contact. I have given mine quite a woorkout this spring with no problems whatsoever. Hope this helps.

Pete, it's the bar I purchased from W R Long with a 4 in 1 bucket. It was about $250. The whole bucket (60inch) solonoid kit, etc was around $1800 if memory serves me (I have a post somewhere with the details.) The teeth are almost like having another set of fingers to work with. I am sure they would be helpful in moving logs. The 4 in 1 is also handy for that. Here is a photo I posted earlier.

boondox: don't want to ans. for bill, but that picture looks identical to the one i just got. it is a w.r. long bar 48 in bucket i ordered mine from carver and had it in 7 days. dealer up here wanted 300 + tax and 3 weeks to get. carver was consideribly less. hell of a piece of equiptment. very well made. am installing it tomorrow morning< and then ripping up some brush. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

gentalmen: installed toothbar first thing this morning. (easy) then had to do mundane things like clean the garage cut some grass, and take the lovely bride of 38 years out for eats! then it was time to try out new toothbar. boy does that thing make a difference when busting sod, or moving brush, lifting branches. got into some hard clay, the was very difficult to dig with bucket, those theeth just dug right in and lossened it.when it was time to back drag and grade, 2 min. and bar was off. darn that thing is handy. just excited i guess/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

frank_f15,
Your local dealer wanted $300 + tax ($25?) and Carver Equipment was "considerably less"? The Carver site shows $325 for the toothbar. Your profile says your cost would have to include shipping to Buffalo, N.Y.
Did you negotiate a discounted price from Carver or did you buy it along with other items in order to get a discount? I'm interested in a toothbar, so I'm interested in what deals are out there.....Rich S.
