Determining if a french drain will work or not?

...the drain system consists of two elements: solid pipe to carry the gutter water, and perforated pipe to capture surface water. they join up into solid pipe which in turn drains out into the creek.

Just don't put any kind of chemicals on your roof (like moss killer).
You also might want to hide that drain to the creek or one of these days someone might make you rip it all out and put in a proper dry well.

When my son was young he took me to a pond in a neighborhood that had quite of bit of rain gutter run off. We caught a bunch of frogs and almost every one of them was grossly disfigured. It was bizarre, like right out of a scifi movie. I mean they had stuff like limbs growing out of their head and stuff. Made me realize why it is illegal to run drains directly into water ways without a catch basin.
