most of you don't know that txdon is a living example of how heart disease can be reversed by changing one's diet.
He has been a strong advocate of the vegan approach, and it has worked for him. Truly worked.
I absolutely believe that changing to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle can dramatically improve our health.
It takes a will power and dedication though that I haven't found yet.
I guess it boils down to I'm not going to live as long as I could, but I'm happy enjoying my occasional cheeseburgers and ice cream.

am pretty sure this would not work for Don without support from his wife. After he lost his brother from the same heart disease, the handwriting was clearly
on the wall for him. And he was smart enough to read it and do something.

I just try to eat a lot more broccoli and blueberries, and less red meat.
having my morning coffee with one scoop of turbinado sugar, not two... and enjoying my raisin muffin.
I bet my sugar is spiking like mad...

Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how the body processes blood sugar (glucose). There are two main types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels. In type 1 diabetes, the body cannot produce insulin, so people with this condition need to take insulin injections or use an insulin pump to manage their blood sugar levels.
Type 2 diabetes is a condition in which the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not produce enough insulin to regulate blood sugar levels.
Type 2 diabetes can often be managed through lifestyle modifications such as diet and exercise, and medications may also be prescribed to help manage blood sugar levels.
This description isn't bad, but might be overly simple. No matter what type you have and every person with diabetes is different, I do mean different so how you take care of yourself will be modestly different. The various hormones that were lost in people varies, so they care varies just the same. What I recommend is a Continuous Glucose Monitor. These tell you what your body is doing today and help you get that A1C down. Sure improved my life and mine came down to 6.4.

that makes sense, figure it has to contact blood somewhere to analyze it
too bad you can't test saliva to get the reading

Years ago some company developed a "watch" that could read through your skin. It went into the test phase and failed to get any further.

Dr Jason Fung is a Canadian kidney specialist who uses fasting to reverse Type 2 diabetes. He is on YouTube. I used water fasting to beat an aggressive cancer.

Think of the horrible death that happened back in the day before we knew what we know now. If it meant tasting or smelling urine so be it.

I have a book written by long past relative. Her brother passed from diabetes in the early 1900's. I can't imagine the suffering he went through. Especially after seeing the effects on my son before his diagnosis. What was interesting is the doctor said there is a medicine that could help him. It was for horses and was called insulin but it was not approved for humans yet. To make the story more tragic his wife was pregnant with their first child and the child died shortly after birth. My diabetic son now uses his name, Otis, for his German class.

My aunt was diagnosed diabetic in 1980 and even at that time she was told it was essentially a death sentence. She is now in her 60's. Those of us that have to deal with this should be thankful of any advancement made in this field. I could not imagine managing my son without all these resources that we have know.

Newbury's suggestion about diabetes sniffing dogs isn't so far off.
I've read some dogs have a way of smelling or sensing cancer. ??

In Japan they say they can smell us Westerners by all the meat we eat. ??
dog's nose a lot better than ours, who knows.

of course if you have a smart dog, he might fake it to just get a treat... ;)
