Hey, Blueriver. Well I am going to do it! Found an ad at the local store. There is a 85 year old guy who has split the property with his family and has all his haying equipment for sale. Planning to look at it this weekend. Seemed real nice on the phone and I asked him what his hourly wage was to come teach me. He said he would!!!

I should think of changing my log on from LtF to LtH(ay). Haha!

Looks good forman ... I took down the Pearl Millet yesterday and it was pretty good. I'll run the conditioner over it today and it may bale late Sunday or early Monday. This is my first time with the Peral Millet ... learning experience as well.

WHAT HAPPEN? Forecast did a 180 ... 40% chance of morning storms for my immediate area ... well its a win win .... I'll either get hay or rain and I need them both!!!!

Well the wife/kids got me a canopy for the little tractor from TSC,its the $140 square one,I aint digging it:laughing: but crap its an early fathers day gift. I took the pictures with my same crappy phone and they turned out small,this is the first time that has happened

Good looking hay!! This year it sure feels good to see the hay meadows green and the crews out working.

We missed the bad weather totally......no rain at all from the storms, but we're still good so far this year.

Hate to hear you didnt get any rain this week.It is really good in sections were the hogs got it isnt as good and lots of places it just didnt come back(bahia or coastal). But im thankful for what I am going to make

Did you cut it prior to getting seed heads, just for hay?
How many days from planting to cutting?
It must be a broadleaf if your going back with a conditioner?

Yes I am using it for hay ... I sowed it 4/7 and cut it yesterday. Its fine leaf the stem is alot finer than other Millets about the size of a pencil ... the conditioner will break the stem. I didn't get any pictures before I cut ... I'll take a camera along today while I run the conditioner.

Thanks Blue and foreman, I plan on looking at it this weekend or early next week. I know that he listed the baler as a Massey/NH PTO baler. The other items are unnamed. I know you are located in the midwest, but how many more cuttings will be gotten this year? (Accounting for rainfall and growth?)

Well I got it all cut and wouldnt you know I see lightning in the distance,I look at the weather countless time and didnt see this All of it isnt gonna be ready by sunday and monday and tuesday have a 40%chance. I guess thats how it goes,we need the rain just may have timed it wrong cutting. I believe you can go back in one of the post and someone mentioned a Tedder:laughing:. I may just have to ask the neighbor down the road,to bale me out he has a tedder and I gave him a good deal on the 10ft shredder,I sold him last year(and its still working)

A tedder is a great hay tool. It saves us a full day up here, is fast to use, and takes very little fuel. You can use a small horsepower tractor.
