Thank you Mr. Messick.

Yeah, thanks. It's a little disconcerting though- I've got about 100 hours on my b2620 with the same trans fluid. Guess I better drop and get rid of the four gallons.

When I did my 50 hr..There was a ton of shavings in the screen. Who knows what was in the filter. The fluid was clear, but I did see some silver in it.

Did it again at 100 hrs, and there was nothing in terms of silver or shavings.

For a little more than a Ben Franklin, is it really worth the risk?...I really don't think so. I refuse to ruin a very expensive piece of equipment by being cheap.

From here on out, I'll probably change mine every 150-200 hrs. A waste, maybe, but I know it's all good. The SUDT runs everything except the motor, so I see that as not insignificant.

Replacing the filters and fluid at 50 hours is just cheap insurance on an Item I spent lots of money on. If I planned on trading this tractor in on a new one in 3 or so years then I wouldnt be so concerned with its longevity, however I plan on keeping it for the duration so I may as well do everything I can to prolong its useful life.

Wouldn't it be "cheap insurance" to change your car oil at every 1000 miles or your SUDT at 25hr's. When does it become stupid and wasteful?

I'm erroring on the side of the planet not my wallet.

And if I planned on trading it in every 3 years I care just as much as if I kept it for 30 years. Because if it really did harm it, killing a tractor isn't good for the planet either.

If oil filter isn't keeping the oil clean at 50hr's then it's faulty. It doesn't turn to liquid metal. Yes clean your screens, magnets and replace filters.

Why do L series do it at 300hr's? Are they built better, do they use better oil, do they filter better? It's because it's shows up as being even more blatantly wasteful.

I recently traded my B7800HST for a L2800 gear shift. The B required changing the hydraulic fluid and filters at 50 hours along with the engine oil and filter. Then 300 hour intervals for the hydraulic fluid and filter. The manual for the L says just change the hydraulic filter at 50 and then fluid and filter at 400 hour intervals. The engine oil and filter gets changed at 50 then at 200 hour intervals according to the manual. The 200 hour interval is too long for the engine oil in my mind, so I'll do the 100 hour on that. When I looked at the manual for the L I was really surprised by the service intervals. Do the tractors come from Kubota with UDT or SUDT or is it up to the dealer what goes in the tranny?

Yet another reason to steer clear of used w/ no records.

Did kuboto raise 1sr udt change from 50 to 400hrs?
Apparantly not.....
A dealer as well as several other posters here have contacted Kubota re. this issue and they were all told that the manual is incorrect and that they recommend the fluid to be changed out @ the 50 hr mark along w/the filters on the B/BX models.
I have found several typo's in my 04 BX23 manual and routinely run into them in the service manuals I use at work, so it's not unusual to run into conflicting info from the manufacture in their mass produced manuals.....

re. HST failures:
The reported HST failures in the B/BX line I've seen here and at other forums seemed to be related to them being run when the hydraulic oil was either too low or empty. I believe there has been one or two that have attributed their HST failures to running the incorrect (didn't meet OEM spec) type of hydraulic oil. I don't recall reading of an HST failing due to running the oil too long past it's scheduled replacement period as of yet but I could have missed it, perhaps we'll be seeing this in the next yr or two :D
Good luck

1*Wouldn't it be "cheap insurance" to change your car oil at every 1000 miles or your SUDT at 25hr's.
2*If a filter isn't keeping the oil clean at 50hr's then it's faulty.
1*The thing you're missing is nobody suggested changing fluids or filters every 50 hours.
2*No filter will or is going to keep break in shavings or mettalcuttings out of the fluid.

The only way to get these out is to replace with new fluid hence the reason for the 50 hour service.
Don't change it then...Nobody's forcing you....Dont come whining here when something breaks.
I can't see getting all ranted up over 1 fluid change. If it was a repetitive thing it would then make some sense.
