Did somebody lose some rocks?

I spent a couple of hours yesterday digging up rocks and then bringing them home from my pals farm next door.

The whole time I kept thinking of this thread. How can he have zillions of rocks while i have none! And our properties are next to each other.

Made me laugh a couple of times.

Hey Maine Polack, that is a great looking guard you have on the front end. I bet it keeps the hood and grille nice and safe.

Yes...and no. I was pushing a rather large pile that contained whole pine trees and one snuck in the side of the guard. Minor dents, that I am repairing even as we speak. My fault for not being more careful. I get on that tractor and want to play M-1 tank!

The expanded metal that is on the guard is made from scraps. The middle is actually 3 layers thick. Very sturdy. Thinking of adding some "wings" to the guard since I have it off.

My mountain property is on the aptly named "Rock Lane". I don't think it is possible to sink a shovel full length into the ground anywhere on my property. You are going to hit a rock! The pictures show some rock I have been sorting out as I find them to build some stairs up a bank and the rocks that apparently were moved when the road was built back in the early 70's.

Rocks, you call them rocks, LOL. I've picked bigger rocks out of my teeth after working in my yard with my mouth open for 10 minutes.

You aint seen rocks until you've been in my neck of the woods. Litterally can not dig 6 inches in any direction, including horizontally, without hitting something the size of a 5 gallon paint pail.

There is an old, old saying up these parts that, "It was the rocks of New England that settled the West."

I realise that we don't have a lock on that type of soil, but it makes sense!

I have granite, quartz, and gneiss (which isn't nice).

An FEL and backhoe make good helpers for stone wall building.
