Didn't know buying a truck was so hard

Re: Didn稚 know buying a truck was so hard

Everything is going to be backed up for a while. Parts suppliers, trains and trucking, other dealers orders, other people orders, yep, won't be "normal" for a while.

Our Parts manager has been with us for over 20 years. He's convinced GM parts will be screwed up till August since we also had the parts strike a few months ago. Sometimes, we can get parts out of Michigan faster than Charlotte, NC (I'm in NC).

Re: Didn稚 know buying a truck was so hard

I go into every car dealer assuming they are scum bags because well, they are salesmen paid on commission. Cant blame them. It's just the game. My dad sells cars so I get it.

When I bought my truck, I found it online, confirmed they had it and drove to look at it. Told him a price I would pay and that was that. My wife's van we argued about, walked out a few times till we got a price we wanted.

Re: Didn稚 know buying a truck was so hard

I know it痴 not the same class truck but my wife kind of likes the Honda Ridgeline, I知 a little hesitant and we don稚 really tow that much . Comments.
And as to the first part I知 going to try another Ford dealer this week

Not trying to be a fly in your wife's soup, but the females have a tendency to think the quasi-trucks are "cute." But they're useless. They don't ride as good as a car, won't carry as many as a SUV, and won't tote a load like a pickup. A couple I know bought one. Didn't keep it a year. Traded it in on a SUV, then the husband bought a new pickup.

Re: Didn稚 know buying a truck was so hard

Decided I needed a pic up as the family SUV limited large items and I always had to take a trailer to Home Depot. I spec壇 out a 2020 Ford F-150 Lariat on their configurator website and printed it out. Off to the local dealer. The sales person confirmed on his computer my build was do able and that there was not a truck so configured at any dealer within 500 miles. He took the order to the individual that places dealer orders and after twenty minutes he came back to tell me it was a no go as the color Velocity Blue was not available on a Lariat only on the XL or XIT. He said he would send me an email of available colors on the Lariat. I wanted the Lariat for the better seats... bad back. He sent the email and I responded asking him to call me. He has not. I also did a web search and found at least five 2020 F-150 Lariats in Velocity Blue on dealers lots around the country .... think I need to find another dealer

Yes, you do... But the good news is you picked the right Truck !!!!

I don’t disagree with the useless part but I don’t really think they’re that bad. You wouldn’t have to try hard to figure out my opinion of any pickup but a half ton pickup isn’t exactly known for its load hauling ability. A half ton is rated to tow more than the ridge line but that’s a marginal win. Isn’t the ridgeline built on a Pilot chassis? I’d think the ride would be pretty good. And no they don’t seat as many as other options but if you only need to seat 4 who cares?

I would be curious as to if the ridge line gets a truck plate or a car plate. Seems to me it would be a waste of money all the way around if it gets a truck plate. A well rounded SUV would most likely give the same or better hauling ability and require less expense on registration.

Re: Didn稚 know buying a truck was so hard

You do have to specify the lariat sport package for 1995.00 in order to have velocity blue be available. Perhaps that was the miscommunication with the order guru?

I think it is a combo of the dealership and the salesperson. I work at a rural dealership and we have both kinds of salespeople - long and short term. The long term ones want repeat customers. They'll go the extra mile doing things to take care of their customers, e.g. come jump off your car if the battery dies, arrange loaners, etc. The short term ones want a fat steak tonight. How to tell them apart? How eager / aggressive are they to do the deal 'today'. And of course, your gut feeling. My two cents worth.

What’s the rule in your state? Here you can put any plate you want on anything. We’ve got passenger vehicle plates for $29 a year which includes all pickups, J class weighed tags for farm use and H class for commercial use.
