Oil & Fuel Diesel cans, Best ones???

I have a 5gal Blitz yellow diesel plastic can from Tru-Value. It works well, except that I have bathed the tractor in diesel twice. The way the nozze screws on , it can pop off if too much pressure is put on it, like when your trying to hold 40+ lbs of diesel over the top of the hood... Tried resting lightly against the filler neck, and it popped right off of there!

I have always like using the neighbors? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Don't care what brand it is as long as the fuel is free /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not sure if this change is nation wide but here in NJ you can't buy a regular yellow diesel container as of january 1st - they have to be spill proof. The costs went from 7 bucks to about 15 bucks and good luck in finding someone whose selling the new style.

I bought 2 plastic yellow ones from WalMart. First time I've had ventless. Drilled a small hole in the top rear for air vent - sounds like I might have goofed up. Splashed a little in the back of my PU when hauling - might have to use the old toothpick trick on them.

No help here, just some whining. I've been unable to find yellow diesel jugs of any size, anywhere! Wal-Mart, Kmart, Home Depot, auto parts stores...nuthin'. Even the local JD dealer only had blue kerosene jugs. What's up with that? I'm hoping the new TSC store going in down the road will have them. I'm using a red 5 gallon gas can - which I KNOW someone here (probably me!) will get mixed-up with the regular gas cans - but the size, when full, is unwieldy to lift over the top of my JD 4110 to refuel. I'm hoping to get 2-3, 2 gallon yellow diesel jugs for Valentine's Day.

The best one that I have found so far and with no filling on emptying problems is a 275 gal fuel oil tank outside my garage with a rotary hand pump. Garage furance and tractor use the same fuel. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah I just use red ones also, but I took a Sharpie and wrote DIESEL ONLY so hopefully it will never be a problem. I am the only one that fills it, but you never know if the wife or teenage son needed it and I was gone, I wanted something that hopefully would get their attention.

I label all my cans this way including mixed ones for weedeater, chainsaw, regular gas etc.

I have been looking for some 2 to 3 gal. yellow cans and found these no-spill models. Haven't tried them yet, but may make the hint for Valentines Day too. Thanks for the idea widman. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

No matter what kind of can you get (looks like you're getting the "new" kind)....make sure you keep a stool and a large funnel near your rig, unless you are 6'8". It makes filling the tractor much less stressful. Having the top come off and cover you, the tractor, the floor or driveway is a nightmare.....as Robert can attest. -You'll all stink for weeks!

I'm with you, but I have a 1000 gallon tank. No hand pump though. Electric with a gallon flow meter. Just hurts whenever I fill it.

I'd like to have a 2500. Then I'd avoid the "tankwagon" surcharge.
