Lets see the dyno. How long will a 409 cubic inch diesel last making 650HP flywheel at 2800rpm to net 510HP at the rear wheels?

It's done all the time. Just because a truck makes a certain number doesn't mean it's utilized 100 or even 50% of the operation time. 600hp at the wheels is run every day on older Cummins. 359...

Guy on my road has a 08 F350 SRW with something like 44" tires that put 1017 FT TQ at the rears on a chassis dyno. It's a beast but nothing compared to his wife's uncles Dodge 5.9. It makes 83" of boost but he's secretive about the other numbers.

Its not cheap but fairly easy to get 1000 hp out of just about any modern diesel. Most of the guys putting out the big numbers at the pulls and other competitive events are starting with a Cummins engine.
