Mine has the 10x10 and it is ok for my use. I calibrate the sprayer to the tractor so it isn't too big an issue. Granted, more gears are better but its not an issue this time. My problem with the Kubota is the ride. It gets to bouncing so bad that you need to hold on to the bars on the doors just so you don't slam into the cab sides. This happens at various times with no rhyme or reason. It isn't just me either, my father was using it to cut a field with a 6' Woods medium duty rotary cutter and had the same issues. When it gets to shaking it gets incredibly loud inside the cab from the 3pt lift levers and the tool box that is mounted outside the cab but to the cab frame. I was cutting a smooth field but a very hard field (its very dry here) with only 12-18" of growth and mowing betwen 3 and 3.5mph and it would run fine then start bouncing, smooth out, then start bouncing. I'm actually thinking it is the tires that are causing this problem. Their not the same tire front to back and I wonder if the lugs end up lining up just so that it causes this extreme bouncing. It shouldn't but its all I can figure out. I can't use the foot throttle either on this tractor because as soon as you touch it the tractor bounces and it just becomes a bull riding event where you just hope to stay on for 8 seconds. I'm so use to using the foot throttle on all my other tractors that it has been tough restraining myself but I'm easily reminded why not to when I forget and use it.

I replace the stock seat with a better air suspension seat in hopes that it would help. I could barely stay in the tractor for an hour before my back was in extreme pain while spraying the grapes. So I wasn't sure if it was the seat that was making me so sore that I started disliking everything about it from being in pain or if it was something more. So with the new seat it is a lot better then the old seat but the problems are still there so even though the seat is better I still can barely stay in there for an hour before being in pain.

The cab itself is great (as long as your not moving). It has a lot of room which is why I went with Kubota since its hard to get a lot of room in a narrow cab tractor and with my back issues its nice to be able to move and stretch as needed during long days. Every 10-14 days I spray and it takes me around 18 hours to spray my existing vineyards. I'm at 33 acres right now but we planted another 11 and in two years those will be in the full spray schedule as well so my 18 hours will become 24 hours and when I spray I need to get everything sprayed as fast as I can so their long days. I need a comfortable tractor I can be in the cab for 12-14 hours straight. I was able to do that in my friends Deere narrow vineyard tractor so I know its possible.

The market for narrow tractors is very limited. I'm actually in a large vineyard area so I should be able to sell it at the end of the year locally. Outside of WNY or the Finger Lakes region you will either need to go to west cost like California and Washington or cross the lake into Canada to find large vineyard areas. Michigan has a decent vineyard market but most of the other areas are just starting out and are small still.

I just looked on Tractorhouse to see what was listed. Only a few 8540 narrows and not enough pricing information is available. There were a couple in PA and one in WA. The others were in Canada and had tracks on the back ( actually I think one was in MI too). Fairly small market.

The JD 4720 doesn't have the hp you want and has a minimum width of 66" so too wide. You would love the transmission and cab though.

The current New Holland machines look like they have the right stuff. I have to admit some bias. Although i own a NH TN75 DA ( Cab, 16x6 reverser) and it is a good tractor, it's more like a hammer than a really nice table saw. it does what it should but somehow I have never warmed up to it. It's kind of stupid but I've never liked the color and would have preferred the red Case version of the same tractor.

My problem with the CNH narrow tractors is the cab is too cramped. Its very hard for me to climb in and out of them and even when you are in there you can't move. I could barely last an hour in a TN75V my friend owned and while the F is a little better once your inside even that is still cramped. Before my back issues I wanted a TN85FA but after now it is just too hard to climb in and out of them because you have to twist a certain way and it is just not comfortable for me. My local Case-IH dealer wanted to sell me a narrow tractor but I just couldn't do it.

Your issue with the bouncing sounds like the weight is too far either forward or rearward from the tractor. More weight towards the center of the tractor should help with this. I understand this is a vineyard setup but is there any way you can shift tanks or other weight to the middle? Is the wheelbase on your new Kubota shorter than the prior tractor you used? That could make a big difference.

Does it only do this when the 4wd is engaged? If so. check to see if they are the correct spec tires. Local gent had a blue tractor, brand new, that had taller front tires than it should have and it had all kinds of issues.

It does it with FWA off. It has been so dry here that I have not needed to use FWA very much after March. The tires are the correct size for what Kubota listed.

I thought that too, it was happening when all I had was 200 pounds on the rear wheels (100 per side) and none on the front. So I added 400 pounds to the front and the problem was still there. I have 600 pounds more that I can toss on there but I really didn't want to run all that weight if it wasn't needed. I can toss the rest on and see if it helps.

Spec wise this tractor is very close to the same dimensions as the Deere. The Deere I was using was 2wd and completely unballasted. The New Holland had the super steer axle so it was longer and it had a full set of front weights so it isn't too similar other then width.

Four questions:
1. Does it do this on the road?
2. Does putting it into 4wd stop the bouncing?
3. Can you trigger it, or does it just happen?
4. Any chance you could post a video of it bouncing?

Thanks

It seems to do it where ever it pleases. I haven't tried putting it in 4wd nor can I trigger it. If I could trigger it I would be happy as then I would have a better idea what is causing it. I don't have any video of it from a 2nd person outside of the tractor but I did take a video from inside. Its hard to see how its bouncing since it makes it impossible to take a steady video but you can see the speed (2.85mph), what I am doing (mowing a field) and what I am mowing with. I also keyed in on the 3pt lift levers as you can hear them vibrating off the entire video and see them when I focused on them. I had to slow down to this speed just so I could finish the field without any issues. Any faster and I wouldn't have been able to film anything or stay in the seat.

Dang, that is odd. Particularly at such a low speed.

Hope it all goes well.

Odd. Would be interesting to see from the outside to see what is moving and which way it is going, the buzzing of the 3ph levers make me think loose cab mount, but that doesn't really make sense with the other symptoms.
Edit: Is there any relation to it starting and the PTO being on?
