Featherbrained farms

Hi everyone, I'm looking at getting something to help with my garden beds this summer. We have 20 50ft beds, used partly for market gardening, and raising them by hand is getting old fast. I was thinking of getting a disc bedder. Problem is, they're not cheap! And, they mostly can't be found in Canada.... A buddy of mine thinks he can build the toolbar and 3pt out of 2inch tubing, and that would leave me to get the discs and clamps. Alternatively, I buy something ready made.
Three questions:
1. Do you think I should buy something ready made or work with my pal (whose workmanship is top notch) to build someting... will I save money?
2. Would I be beter off buying a toolbar separately and adding bedder discs, or buying a ready made one.
3. Either way, what would you recommend?
The other issue is I'm in Canada. My best bets ready made would be this or this. With exchange rates being what they are, both end up in the same place: pricey. Alternatively, here are parts I could get to build my own, but I'm hesitant: this from agrisupply with this (how do I use that?), or this. Either way, it's basically 200US plus shipping anc cross border non-sense for 2 discs and 2 clamps.
Thoughts?
