Youæ±*e OK for a straight disc mower; typical southern practices are different from the North East because of crop type and weather conditions. Indeed the Deere is a KUHN, a top-notch machine in any color really. Something to consider is the cutterbar of a GMD-800 (10 cut) is the same as a GMD883 (28団ut). Transport height can be an issue, but if this is an 8-disc machine often the size of the tractor for ballast is important too. 8 discs x 10 hp / disc = 80 hp so you should have a good fit with your tractor so long as it has some weights on the nose or is MFWD. Something to consider is a å…¸railed model, they can be used on smaller tractors, offer better cutterbar flotation system, the only down side of course is price being more expensive than mounted models.
If your searching the used market and can inspect prior to purchase turn the end disc of the cutterbar. The bar should turn freely without binding and the disc at the together end should start to move within ï½¼ turn of the disc. This and a good visual inspection will tell you the general condition of the cutterbar.
