Looking for advice on best disc mower for Kubota L4400. Have about 15 acres to mow. Have looked at Sitrex (new) so far with a price tag of around $7K. Would consider something used if it was in good condition. Anything up from the sickle bar on the old 52 Farmall will be an improvement!

There are so many to choose from. I ran the Frontier DM 1160 Liked it so much that we got our second one this year ... so we will cut with 2 -
DM1160's this year.

A good used one may be hard to find ... there are alot of them out there but buying a used one can cost alot in repair parts.

I would also use the closest dealer if you go new ... sure is nice when your in the hay field and you have a problem.

The dealer where we bought our L4400 sells Sitrex disc mowers and they suggested the smallest model they sell because the size of our tractor. Pricey...but new sure is attractive.

Yes they don't give them away !!! Warranty does come along as well as the dealer support ... I would strongly lean towards the dealer who sold you the tractor.

Here is a Ebay link to a really nice used 7 ft Tonutti disc mower that just came in on trade to a discbine. It is right in every way. The "Off Ebay" price would be some less that what you will see on the listing. Ken Sweet

Used Tonutti DMP-210 Disc Mower, 7 Ft Cut, Nice Mower - eBay (item 150570928650 end time Mar-31-11 10:00:31 PDT)

Is that the same drum mower that you were selling a few years ago that was made in Turkey? I got the New CCM Super 65 sickle mowers that I bought from you that were made in Turkey and I had problems with poor quality and workmanship and bad metal. Have they made significant improvements in the last couple years? Ken Sweet

Sweet Tractors or any of your sister companies have never purchased a CCM T165 Drum mower from us or any of our dealers. We have over a 50% market share in the USA market. Any more attempts to to spread untruths by you or any of your associates will be met with legal action.
The only problem you have is you do not have a product to compete. We refuse to sell any of our products to EBAY retailers that have shown a lack of customer service and bitter-sweet deals. Sweettractors has never been an authorized seller of any CCM products.

He said Sickle Mower not Drum Mower ... This may get interesting.

Hey guys, play nice. Both of you have been very helpful on these boards for a long time but there is no reason to get in an argument when a real question has been posted.

My haying partner bought a drum mower from ccm last year and they work very good. We have not had a problem out of it. However, even the largest drum mowers have a shorter cutting width than even a small disc mower.

I run a 43hp kubota and use a 7' disc mower and I can outcut the new drum mower because I have around 1' or so extra cutting width. I can also cut with my disc mower as fast as I can stay in the seat but for the money a drum mower is definately the least expensive way to cut hay if you are buying a new piece of equipment.

I've never used a drum mower and have not seen any right here in this area. Anything I read about them seems to be good ...

You can purchase a new drum mower, new tedder and new rake cheaper than one new disc mower. A CCM drum mower is the perfect hay mower for a producer that has 100 acres of hay or less a year. We have the same design mowers working today that we sold back in 1982. 4 wheel rake $700

Mark, You should read more carefully, I said Super 65 Sickle mowers that I purchased from you that were made in Turkey. My question is what is the country that makes the CCM drum mowers for you? I have seen some of the Used CCM drum Mowers coming through the consignment sales in southern Ky this spring. I may start bidding on them if you can reassure me and restore my confidence a little? You are full of KY manure. You know full well we dominate the drum mower market in the USA. We are selling hundreds of drum mowers each year in the USA. Our drum mowers are the best made anywhere in the world. This is just another one of your childish ploys to disparage any competition. A lie is an intent to deceive. You know better or do you?

Where are the CCM drum mowers imported from? Just curious.

They come from TURKAY TARIM Izmir TURKEY. CCM has control of the USA market. They are sold in EUROPE under the AGRAM, Pottinger, SIP, KUHN, Farm Hand, JF, CLEMMONS and other brands. Not one 3 point disc or drum mower is made in the USA. Some mowers are assembled here in the USA like NEW IDEA/AGCO. This technology did not start in the USA so all are imported. NATO F16 Jets are assembled in TURKEY.
Every mower has every moving part checked for balance. In fact every bearing & transmission is tested for noise, vibration, & heat build up. They are powder painted & are fully assembled for end-users. Nether CCM or our dealors deliver un-assembled units to the farmer.
