Ditch Witch C99

   / Ditch Witch C99 #101
Just got off the phone with Ditch Witch. I saw that they have a bunch of tools on their web site. That includes parts and operating manuals. There is a note that says IE required. I was using IE so I asked them about it. A nice lady named Emily came on. She stepped me through adding compatibility mode to IE to access the site. It goes something like this:
-click the gear in the upper right corner
-click on Compatibility View settings
-ditchwitch.com appears in the Add this website bar
-click add
-also type in / add *ditchwitch.com
-both should now be listed
-close and reopen the browser
-Log in and you're golden!

Than I asked if she could tell me about the drive on my C 99. She transferred me to support. Nick picks up. He says, "Hmmm... that thing's about twice as old as I am." He puts me on hold for a couple minutes. Upon return he says, "You're looking at the parts manual, right?" I says, "Yep, right on your web site. Emily got me going." He tells me to look at number 7 in the exploded view, part number 115-571. In the second diagram (for later serial numbers) it is diagram number 19, same part number. He says the older guys tell him that if these springs are weak or damaged or worn it will create the symptom I asked about in the earlier post.

Moral of the story: There was basically nothing in it for Ditch Witch but all the people I spoke with there were super helpful and patient and went out of their way to take care of me. Stand up stuff!

So, every one who is looking for a Ditch Witch C99 manual, you can get it online right from them. They also tell me that many parts are still available right from them, though some have been discontinued. They are happy to help locate or will have custom manufactured that which they no longer stock.

Thanks Ditch Witch!

No, I don't work for them or have any affiliation. Just a happy customer who didn't even buy anything.

Yes but I need an email to send them to. You can private message me if you like, and I'll get them right out.

You can them them straight from Ditch Witch in .pdf format or view them on line. See the post directly above yours for how to do that.

We have friends who work at Ditch Witch; it's a class organization from what I can tell.

Finishing up on one of the questions earlier in this thread. I was having trouble with the machine popping out of drive when in digging mode. It would rearward march a few feet, maybe only a few inches, then the reducer shifter would slowly rotate about a revolution. Then it would catch again and drive a bit, then repeat the process. After much disassembly and examination, it appeared the the locking pin of the reducer shifter was popping out of the notch in the locking plate on the frame. I reground the angles of these two parts such that there would be a positive engagement. Much to my pleasure, it now stays engaged and digs all day like it is supposed to.

I have pdfs of the manual, parts book, and engine for this thing. If you have need, let me know and I will send them off to you.

Happy trenching!

Hey Mr. Moderator, how about a forum for trenchers??

Hey guys, still out here, just not reading and posting much. I must have sent well over a hundred of the scanned manuals and parts lists out, and still do when asked and when accompanied with a private email addie.

I am truly glad there are other resources available now. As I must've said somewhere along the line, I got the hard copies from Ditch Witch in the first place. They are good people.

I don't know if a separate trencher forum would see much action but that's up to y'all. Personally I don't like when forums get super subdivided into topics because I like to see a little of everything related without deep diving.

I learned a ton here about tractoring, and still do, but mostly as a lurker. It's amazing that I could give back to anyone at all, 'cause I am a pretty small time tractor guy. But they are finally opening a TSC here about 5 miles away, and I must confess I am somewhat pumped about it.

My C99 has a fragged tire and is out behind the garage for now with no immediate missions, but I like just having it. It is on my "gotta get to it" list. It is about item 98 on the list, at least until I need it, but I am glad so many of them are still ticking.

Indeed they are. We have good friends at Ditch Witch.
