Thanks for the mounting details, you have given me some ideas for mine, I am just in the planning stages. I did pick up a used TIG welder, so first step is working on making welds that will stick. :) Are you planning any brackets for lights?

Glad it helps. I haven't figured the lights out specifically but I will mount flood lights somewhere. Probably two for the front and two for the rear. I recently installed 2 lights but will probably buy 2 more. LEDs.

Made the right and left sides. Mind that these sides are removable and will be bolted to the front and rear frames. I made the left first and then switched it to the right side to see if it fit. It fit well but the lower part of the frame that runs along the floor pan was too low for the right side for some reason. Everything else lined up well. So I marked where the tube should go. I then used the left side as a pattern for the right side.

In the picture you can see the difference there with the pieces stacked on the workbench.

Here are a couple of pics with all five panels clamped together on the tractor.

Next I'm going to weld up some flanges to use to bolt the pieces together, and the finish welding some joints that are tacked up. Then the door on the left. The right panel will be fixed but with an window that can open.

I used 1 1/4" sq tube 1/8" thick for the frames. I was thinking of using lighter stock for the door and window frame. What do you think? What size would be good. Should I stay with 1 1/4 tube but go thinner guage or should I use something like 1" tube with thinner guage?

Thanks for looking.

My only thought would be to make the roof more permanent... that way you have a canopy the rest of the year. I have a canopy now, and don't think I would be without it in the hot sun. It is fiberglass and has a lot of cracks, so when I finally build a cab I will rebuild the canopy out of steel and incorporate it into my design to stay on the tractor even without the sides.

What gauge sheet metal do you plan to use?

Good idea Mike. I'll work on a design to keep the roof on for the summer. I haven't decided what gauge sheet steel to use. Any suggestions out there?

Here's what I'm doing to tie the panels together. Except after I put this first one on, I figured out that I have to reverse the flange and weld it to the back and bolt it to the side or I won't be able to get the sides slid in and out. Oh well. I only did one. I drilled and tapped the tube for 5/16" bolts.

I wouldn't hesitate to go with something lighter. My cab is built in a similar way and the main frames are 1" tube (and if I recall correctly 12GA). My doors are 3/4" tube and everything is solid.

Ive been busy doing a lot of little tasks on my cab.
Made up 16 tabs for bolting the 5 panels together. Drilled and tapped 32 holes for 5/16" bolts for same. Sanded everything and primed. Then painred the front rear and top panels using rattle cans.

Kubota wants over $10 per can for their dark gray. So I bought Massey dark gray cans at Family Farm n Home for $5 each. Its a close enough match for me.

I made the roof from 1/2" sanded plywood. Put 2 coats of primer and then brushed on 2 coats of Kubota orange enamel.

I went with 1/4" plexiglass for the front and rear windshields. Predrilled the plex, put a bead of silicone down and fastened with self tapping #10 screws (carefully so as not to crack the plex).

Next is to work on the sides. Im thinking a door on the left and a windo on the right.
