Nice..
My neighbor did the same thing but....View attachment 762833
Trying out a SS clothes washer tub for fire pit. Found a commercial SS stock pot lid to cover it. Good thing it is smokeless and easy to cook on.
Built fires on the ground in the same spot for 40 years. Rains wash the ashes away and occasionally mow over. Any wood or structure near short grass attracts black widow spiders so we have to always be aware. Horses and dogs liked to chew charcoal stubs when cold.
No, but... I was going to have an outdoor fireplace built and found out that it needed a 15' tall chimney for it to draw properly and the shape of the firebox is also important to have the air flow into the chimney correctly. My neighbor has an outdoor fireplace with a 10' chimney and they've had a lot of trouble with getting it to draw correctly.Pretty sweet. I want to do something similar next to the pool in my yard but with a chimney. I've been warned that chimneys are complicated though - anyone ever done such a thing?
You need the wood on the bottom and stew in that pot!!!Sort of.....cast iron.
Why dig up a 3 year old post and copy paste the OP, changing just a few sentences?I just completed my DIY fire pit after three days of hard work in the heat, and I’m thrilled with the result. Tonight, I lit the first fire, had a couple of beers, and reminisced about old times. The fire pit design includes holes in the fire ring that are supposed to make it smokeless – still testing that out. My little Massey GC1723 tractor was a lifesaver for moving dirt and leveling the area. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it for the cozy atmosphere.
At least he added more to the thread than you did.Why dig up a 3 year old post and copy paste the OP, changing just a few sentences?
OP:
I finally finished my DIY fire pit. Three days of work, in sweltering heat, but finally got it done. Tonight I lit a fire, had a couple of beers and reminisced of days gone by. The holes in the fire ring are supposed to make it smokeless. The jury is still out on that. Glad I own a little Massey GC1723. Ihad to move a couple of yards of dirt to level the area and then spread all the gravel.
Lol, I atleast noticed it was a possible spam account and they barely changed the original OP's story....that's why I quoted both and reported it as possible spam.At least he added more to the thread than you did.

I was at a party, 15+ years ago. They had a 4'ish wide concrete pipe that was the Pit. It was filled with dirt, so the fire was close to the top. Stand around, drinking beer, BSing...I’m kinda partial to a fire on an elevated platform.
