BTW, here's an interesting site Tractor Page 2 - its electric, but some good pics
Thanks for the coments Chris, and welcome aboard!chrisser said:GT2,
I'm new to the board, and joined specifically because of this thread.
I was searching the web for people building their own tractors. They are few and far between, and your thread is by far the best example.
Thanks for sharing it with everyone. Great info and pics - I sometimes check in twice a day to see your progress and read the comments.

Homokinetic?Renze said:That's only in toy tractors like Kioti and Kubota. The only farm tractor using a driven front axle with this design is Belarus, all the other larger tractors use double U joints. Some of them might be using homokinetic joints like fwd cars.

Did something get lost in the translation?![]()
( or maybe I'm ignorent)
Over here we call them constant velosity joints or CV joints.
See I am ignorent.rpoage said:Title:Universal homokinetic joint Document Type and Number:United States Patent 4238936 Link to this page:Universal homokinetic joint - Patent 4238936 Abstract:Homokinetic joint of the type in which the torque is transmitted between two ends by balls engaged in races or tracks made in said ends.
Each track is constituted by two semi-cylindrical grooves, the sectional diameter of which being oriented relative to a radial axis passing through the geometrical center of the joint and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of said two ends. The balls are thus made to roll and to be guided between two poles located on the radial axis and two other poles located on an axis perpendicular to said radial axis. Said arrangement excludes the use of any intermediate means for maintaining the balls on the bisecting plane of the joint.
The invention is particularly adapted to realize the two-joints transmission assembly for a vehicle.
I say Homokinetic, you say CV Joint / You say Potato, I say Potato![]()

Be careful what part of town you are in when you say that. It could get you in a bar fight or propositioned?GT2 said:( I just wanted to say Homokinetic again)![]()
