DK35 Block heater

Went over to my local Kioti dealer today to look at the DK 35 .
To say the least I was impressed . Both by the dealer and the DK35. But, one thing that does trouble me a bit is ,he said there was no way to put a block heater in the engine . I have got to take his word on this ,as he was very forthright with all my questions . Just seemed a bit strange. Especially when considering it was designed in Korea . Not exactly a place I'd want to go for a winter vacation /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif To be fair , He did say as long as it was garage/shed kept it would be fine .
The look on his face when I told him that it would be used to build it's Shed was funny /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So, to make a long story short..... Anyone fitted a block heater to their DK ??

If a block heater can't be installed, you might want to look into a generic lower radiator hose heater.

You will not need Block Heater on a DK 35. iI sold a lot of
them ann NEVER have a complant about cold weather starting.
Temp been below 0 here

I'll take you at your word . My concern was with diesels in general , I know my F250 6.0 psd will start at -10 or less . But it sure is cranky . It doesn't seem to like COLD starts at all . Plugged in She seems fine . So my reasoning was the DK might be the same. I just thought that oil that wasn't at ambient temp (30 or below) wouldn't be as good as something warmer . I know it's "just a tractor" but to me it's still something I'd like to be as easy on as possible . Thanks , John

The block heater is something I never checked into so I can't help you there.
My DK does start OK in the cold when you let the glow plugs cycle through.
But like your Ford it does put up a ruckus when cold.

My 35 came with one installed. You will need it in a shed at -20. I did. bcs

Now I find that interesting to say the least . Any chance of a picture ??? I'd sure feel better about cold starts with a block heater . All the best, John

I haven't had any problems starting my DK 45 with about a 20 second cycle of the glow plugs, and that was in below zero weather (which is rare in this part of Kentucky, but we had several mornings like that this winter).

I would agree with the earlier comments that you could fit a generic lower radiator hose heater and achieve basically the same effect as a block heater. For extremely cold temps, you could also go with the magnetic heaters on the oil pan and a battery blanket for the battery (obviously) and then I'm sure the tractor could start in virtually any weather.

I do find it curious that one dealer says that block heaters can't be installed and someone else has a tractor with a block heater on it (from the factory, I guess).
